Vietnam Values Strategic Partnership with UAE, a Global Economic and Financial Hub

During the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly’s High-Level General Debate, coupled with bilateral activities in the United States, Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam, Mr. Bui Thanh Son, met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the UAE, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on September 23rd.

Both leaders expressed their delight at the positive development of Vietnam-UAE relations, particularly since the establishment of the Comprehensive Partnership and the signing of the Vietnam-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in October 2024.

Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son commended the UAE’s remarkable development achievements and emphasized Vietnam’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with the UAE, a leading global economic and financial hub. He also thanked the UAE for its meticulous preparation for the upcoming visit of Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh (September 23-25, 2025), aimed at fostering collaboration in international financial center development, innovation, digital transformation, and data center expansion in Vietnam.

On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son requested the UAE’s support in advancing the initiation of FTA negotiations between Vietnam and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and exploring investments in Halal industrial zones in Vietnam.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed his pleasure at meeting Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son again and reiterated that Vietnam is a vital trade and investment partner for the UAE in Southeast Asia.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan echoed Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son’s view that both nations should continue to concretize and achieve tangible results in key cooperation areas, including economy, trade, investment, finance, science and technology, and tourism. These efforts align with the Comprehensive Partnership framework and the CEPA, as championed by the high-level leadership of both countries.

The UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs also proposed enhancing labor cooperation and training high-quality human resources to meet the needs of both countries.

Both sides agreed to strengthen coordination and mutual support in multilateral and international forums.
