Groundbreaking Ceremony Announced for Tan Trao Industrial Park and Hai Phong LNG Thermal Power Plant

According to Hai Phong City authorities, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Tan Trao Industrial Park Infrastructure Development Project (Phase 1) and the Hai Phong LNG Thermal Power Plant will take place on September 26th, 2025, in Kien Hung Commune, part of the Southern Coastal Economic Zone of Hai Phong. This event marks a significant celebration leading up to the 1st Congress of the Hai Phong City Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term.

Earlier in September, city leaders urged relevant units to accelerate land clearance efforts to ensure optimal conditions for the groundbreaking of Tan Trao Industrial Park (Phase 1) by the end of September 2025.

Spanning approximately 227 hectares with a total investment of nearly VND 4.06 trillion, Tan Trao Industrial Park (Phase 1) is located in Kien Hung and Nghi Duong communes (formerly part of Kien Thuy district), Hai Phong City.

Geographically, the park is bordered to the north by agricultural lands in Kien Hung commune, the Tan Trao industrial cluster, and existing residential areas; to the south by the Van Uc River; to the west by the Dong Théo Canal; and to the east by the residential area of Da Ngu village.

The project is spearheaded by Vinhomes Hai Phong Industrial Park Investment Joint Stock Company, a subsidiary of Vingroup.

Tan Trao Industrial Park is poised to attract industries such as electrical and electronics manufacturing, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, supporting industries, new materials, clean energy, and renewable energy.

According to the environmental impact assessment report, the project is scheduled for completion over five years, from Q2 2025 to Q2 2030. Land clearance will commence immediately, followed by infrastructure construction starting in 2026, with operations expected to begin in Q2 2030.

With a 50-year operational timeline, the project aims to establish a modern industrial park with synchronized technical infrastructure. This initiative seeks to expand multi-sector investment, drive industrial growth, create jobs, and boost the socio-economic development of the city.

Alongside the Tan Trao Industrial Park (Phase 1), the groundbreaking for the Hai Phong LNG Thermal Power Plant, located within the same industrial zone, will also take place on September 26th.

Covering over 98.5 hectares, the Hai Phong LNG Thermal Power Plant is designed with a capacity of 4,800 MW (Phase 1: 1,600 MW). The project is an integral part of the Southern Coastal Economic Zone of Hai Phong, benefiting from seamless connectivity to seaports, airports, highways, and railways.

During a mid-September progress review, city leaders emphasized the strategic importance of the Hai Phong LNG Thermal Power Plant, a key project by Vingroup, for the city’s development.

Vingroup has been actively investing in Hai Phong City. On July 15th, during the Hai Phong Investment Promotion Conference, the city’s People’s Committee issued investment certificates for 32 projects and signed 7 cooperation memoranda, totaling over USD 15.6 billion in investment.
