On September 27th, during the 1st Can Tho City Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tam, Deputy Head of the Central Organizing Committee, announced the Politburo’s decisions.

Mr. Tam stated that the Politburo recently made decisions regarding the reassignment and task allocation for Mr. Do Thanh Binh, a member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee, and Mr. Tran Van Lau, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the Can Tho People’s Committee.
Accordingly, Mr. Do Thanh Binh has been reassigned to the position of Permanent Deputy Minister of Home Affairs. Mr. Binh will continue to oversee operations until the completion of the 1st Can Tho City Party Congress. The reassignment decisions will be announced and presented at the new agencies.
Mr. Tam also announced the decision to appoint Mr. Le Quang Tung as the Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term.
Specifically, the Politburo decided that Mr. Le Quang Tung, a member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary-General of the National Assembly, and Head of the National Assembly Office of the 15th term, will cease his participation in the Executive Committee and Standing Committee of the National Assembly Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term and related positions. He will be reassigned to join the Executive Committee and Standing Committee of the Can Tho City Party Committee, serving as its Secretary for the 2025-2030 term, and will also be appointed to the Party Committee of Military Region 9.

From April 2014 to July 2018: Mr. Le Quang Tung held the positions of Alternate Member of the 12th Party Central Committee, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Member of the Standing Committee of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee, and Vice Chairman of the Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee. From July 2018 to July 2020: Mr. Le Quang Tung served as Alternate Member of the 12th Party Central Committee, Member of the Party Affairs Committee, and Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism. From July 2020 to November 2024: Mr. Le Quang Tung served as Member of the 13th Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Quang Tri Provincial Party Committee, and Head of the Quang Tri Provincial National Assembly Delegation. On November 28, 2024: At the 8th Session of the 15th National Assembly, the National Assembly adopted a resolution to elect Mr. Le Quang Tung as the Secretary-General of the 15th National Assembly. On the same day, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly convened and elected Mr. Le Quang Tung to the positions of Head of the National Assembly Office and Chief of the National Assembly Party Committee Office. |
