The projected population by 2030 is expected to be between 120,000 and 155,000, and by 2045, it is anticipated to reach 260,000 to 310,000.

Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Tuong Van emphasized that the Moc Bai Border Gate Economic Zone will become a new growth engine, a competitive economic hub at the regional and international levels. It will serve as a vital trade gateway for the Southeast region, connecting Vietnam with Cambodia and the ASEAN region. The zone will also function as a center for border gate services, an international container transshipment port, logistics services, finance, trade, and border services in the Southeast region.

The area will develop in an industrial-urban direction, with a synchronized and modern socio-technical infrastructure system.

High-tech and green industries will be promoted, along with smart, clean, and green urban development. Economic and social development will be integrated with national defense and security, maintaining border order and fostering economic, cultural, and social cooperation.

The economic zone’s planning is based on five main zones. The border and gate areas will develop the Moc Bai International Border Gate and auxiliary gates such as Cay Me, Long Thuan, and Phuoc Chi.

The industrial and warehouse development zone will organize industrial production, services, and logistics in a concentrated model, linked to border gates and regional technical infrastructure systems like the Ho Chi Minh City – Moc Bai Expressway, connecting to Cambodia, the Ho Chi Minh City – Moc Bai Railway, and National Highways 22 and 14C.

Upon completion, the Ho Chi Minh City – Moc Bai Expressway will connect to the Moc Bai Border Gate Economic Zone

The third zone will develop urban areas, industrial-urban-service complexes, logistics services, and synchronized urban functions alongside industrial zones to create high-quality, sustainable living, working, and labor spaces.

The fourth zone will establish tourism clusters linked to the exploitation of the ecological landscape of the Vam Co Dong River in Loi Thuan and Phuoc Chi areas.

The existing agricultural and rural residential areas will continue to maintain agricultural production and rural communities, preserving the region’s unique cultural traditions.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Thanh, Vice Chairman of the Tay Ninh Provincial People’s Committee, stated that the province has issued an implementation plan for the Moc Bai Border Gate Economic Zone, assigning 15 specific tasks to departments, agencies, and localities.

Particularly, active coordination with the Ministry of Finance and central ministries is underway to finalize and submit a proposal to the Government for a pilot scheme on mechanisms and policies for the Moc Bai Border Gate Economic Zone. This includes outstanding policies on land, taxes, customs, pilot night-time economy, and strategic investor selection.
