This marks the first high-rise pig farming model in Vietnam.
On September 28, BAF Vietnam Agriculture JSC officially partnered with Muyuan Foodstuff Group (China) to develop and operate a high-tech, multi-story pig farming project in Tay Ninh Province.
At the signing ceremony, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Phung Duc Tien stated that policies for the livestock industry, particularly high-rise farming, are in place. Additionally, the Ministry of Science and Technology has issued standards for this innovative model. He assured that any challenges during implementation would be addressed to promote advanced livestock farming.
The Deputy Minister praised the high-rise pig farming model for its suitability. Besides BAF, major players like Xuan Thien, GREENFEED, and DABACO Vietnam are also exploring this approach. If successful, more high-rise pig farms are expected across Vietnam.

Ms. Bui Huong Giang, CEO of BAF, announced that Tay Ninh Province has approved the investment for BAF’s integrated pig farming complex. This includes two high-rise pig farms, a feed mill, and a pork processing plant.
Construction of the first farm is set to begin in Q1 2026, with subsequent buildings following every three months. The entire project is expected to be completed by Q1 2028.
In partnership with Muyuan, BAF will construct and operate the high-rise pig farm alongside a feed mill. The project aims to house 64,000 sows and produce 1.6 million pigs annually, with a feed capacity of 600,000 tons/year. The total investment is VND 12 trillion, with projected annual revenue of VND 10 trillion.
The project received investment approval from Tay Ninh Province in June and government authorization in August.

Through this partnership with Muyuan, a global leader in pig farming, BAF aims to achieve a production target of 10 million pigs by 2030.
According to BAF, high-rise farms observed in China can increase productivity, save 5–8 times more land, and reduce labor by 20–30% compared to traditional farms. These structures optimize operational costs, minimize disease transmission, and maintain environmental standards through advanced filtration and sanitation systems.
Mr. Gao Tong, CFO of Muyuan Foodstuff Group, emphasized that this project exemplifies mutual strengths and shared vision. Muyuan is committed to supporting BAF in achieving the strategic goal of 450,000 sows and 10 million pigs by 2030, ensuring safer, fresher pork for Vietnam while advancing sustainable livestock practices.
Experts note that with millions of pigs produced annually, successful adoption of this model could significantly boost domestic supply and enable exports. However, it requires higher technology and initial investment—1.5–1.6 times more than traditional methods.
In 2025, despite disease challenges, BAF will supply approximately 800,000 pigs, including 800–1,000 monthly to Ho Chi Minh City. By late 2027, the first 20,000 pigs from this project will be marketed in Southern Vietnam, stabilizing year-end supply.

Since 2018, China has industrialized its massive pig sector as part of a 30-year agricultural modernization effort to enrich rural areas.
To date, China has developed 1,830 projects with 4,282 high-rise pig buildings covering over 42 million m². Annually, these facilities produce 2.64 million breeding sows and 25.46 million pigs.

Muyuan began constructing its high-rise pig farm in March 2020 and launched the first of 21 buildings in September 2020.
Professor Zhu Zengyong of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences remarked, “Compared to traditional methods, high-rise pig farms are smarter, more automated, and offer superior biosecurity.”
