The recall program is being implemented due to the product’s risk of overheating under certain usage conditions, posing a potential fire hazard. The cause has been identified as related to raw materials from the supplier.
The affected products were manufactured between August and September 2024. A total of 87 units are being recalled in Vietnam.
The recall period runs from September 2, 2025, until all defective products are successfully retrieved.
Xiaomi Commits to Refunding Customers During Power Bank Recall
Customers with defective units will receive free return instructions and a full refund within 5–10 business days. Xiaomi Vietnam Co., Ltd. has pledged to cover all associated costs and confirmed no incidents or injuries have been reported in Vietnam.
The National Competition Commission is closely monitoring the recall and urges media outlets to widely disseminate this information to ensure consumer awareness and participation.
Previously, the Commission oversaw the recall of over 30,927 Anker-branded power banks in Vietnam. The recall was due to a defect in the negative electrode welding process of the battery cells, occurring between November and December 2023. Further analysis revealed excessive iron impurities in the positive electrode, further compromising product reliability and safety.
