According to the Tri An Hydropower Company, due to the inflow of water from upstream, the water level in the Tri An reservoir has reached an elevation of 60.54 meters. As a result, the company will initiate flood discharge through the spillway at a rate of 160 to 320 m³/s.

Flood discharge from Tri An Hydropower Plant begins at 1 PM today
Specifically, Tri An Hydropower Company will start releasing water through the spillway to regulate the reservoir from 1 PM today. The company will discharge water through the spillway at a rate of 160 m³/s, with an additional flow through the turbines ranging from 750 m³/s to 820 m³/s, resulting in a total downstream discharge of 910-980 m³/s.
By 4 PM the same day, the spillway discharge rate will increase to 320 m³/s, while the turbine flow remains between 750 m³/s and 820 m³/s, raising the total downstream discharge to 1,070-1,140 m³/s.
The flood discharge has been communicated to the Civil Defense Committees at all levels and relevant local authorities for coordination. Residents in downstream areas are advised to take proactive measures to minimize potential damage.
Meanwhile, the Dong Nai Provincial Meteorological and Hydrological Station has warned that the water level in the Dong Nai River is rising rapidly due to heavy rainfall upstream. The rising water levels pose a risk of flooding and landslides in riverside areas of Dong Nai Province and Ho Chi Minh City.
The Tri An Hydropower Plant reservoir covers an area of 323 km², making it the largest hydropower reservoir in Southern Vietnam on the Dong Nai River basin. Beyond generating electricity for the national grid, the facility also ensures water supply for domestic use, agricultural production, salinity control, and flood regulation for downstream regions of the Dong Nai River system.
