On September 30th, a representative from Viettel Nghe An’s leadership announced that Typhoon Bualoi (Typhoon No. 10) had caused severe damage to the province’s power poles, telecommunications transmission cables, and Viettel’s signal towers, leading to communication disruptions in several areas.

Typhoon No. 10’s impact left numerous power systems, transmission lines, and Viettel Nghe An’s signal towers damaged. Pictured is a transformer station in Nghe An that collapsed after the typhoon.

Local reporters observed that over the past two days, many areas in Nghe An province experienced unstable Viettel phone signals and internet outages, affecting a large number of residents.

As of the afternoon of September 30th, several regions in Nghe An province continued to face weak phone signals and unstable 4G and 5G mobile networks.

Viettel Nghe An stated that after Typhoon No. 10 passed, they mobilized hundreds of personnel from various provinces to Nghe An to promptly address the issues and restore communication services for customers.

During and after the typhoon, Viettel Nghe An’s staff and employees went to the affected sites for repairs.

To date, Viettel Nghe An has deployed over 1,000 staff members, 150 vehicles, 150 generators, 600 battery packs, 3 mobile units, 3 satellite phones, and 14 X transmission devices to provide emergency support after Typhoon No. 10, ensuring communication and network services for the local population.

To support residents during this challenging time, Viettel Nghe An has set up hundreds of free charging stations at stores, signal towers, and employee residences. Additionally, Viettel credited 20,000 VND to the accounts of over 30,000 customers in isolated areas to maintain their communication services.

The company also offered a 20% bonus for customers recharging in typhoon-affected provinces and suspended one-way blocking for postpaid subscribers to ensure uninterrupted communication. Viettel’s customer service team has been expanded to provide 24/7 support and incident reporting.

Efforts to restore Viettel’s mobile network in Nghe An province are ongoing.

“Given the extreme destructive power of Typhoon Bualoi, many of Viettel’s transmission lines were affected, and several signal towers lost power, causing communication disruptions in some areas. Viettel Nghe An is working tirelessly, making every effort to restore services and ensure communication for the residents,” said a representative from Viettel Nghe An’s leadership.
