Since the partnership announcement in July 2025, Manulife Vietnam has collaborated with the Vietnam Young Physicians Association and the Institute for Preventive Medicine and Public Health Training – Hanoi Medical University to deliver 20 training courses. Held in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, these sessions have engaged over 1,000 consultants from various provinces nationwide.

Directly leading the sessions, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lê Thị Thanh Xuân, Vice Director of the Institute for Preventive Medicine and Public Health Training, Hanoi Medical University, noted that classes are consistently fully booked with high attendance rates. “What impresses me most is the learners’ eagerness. They not only focus during lectures but also actively discuss real-world scenarios, such as handling customer inquiries about lab results, promoting healthy lifestyles for patients, and identifying common diseases. These interactions make the sessions dynamic and immediately applicable,” she shared.

In Q4 2025, Manulife plans to launch an additional 25 courses for over 1,200 consultants, bringing the total trained to 2,200. The curriculum covers essential knowledge on prevalent community health issues, physical and mental well-being, and practical skills to better support clients.

Real-World Impact

Post-course surveys reveal that over 97% of participants find the program directly beneficial for their work. Consultants highly value the practical exercises and case studies.

Lê Thị Phương Mai, a Manulife consultant in Hanoi, shared how the training boosted her confidence: “With structured knowledge, I can explain basic medical concepts and link them to insurance benefits. I can clarify claim processes and guide clients on when to consult doctors further. This has strengthened my client relationships.”

Clients also recognize the added value. Nguyễn Thị Miên, a Ho Chi Minh City client, said: “Last week, during a hospital visit for digestive issues, my Manulife consultant helped me prepare claim documents and shared insights on healthy eating. Some advice was entirely new to me, despite thinking I knew it all. It’s the basics that often get overlooked.”

This community health training initiative for insurance consultants is a Manulife first, setting new industry standards. It ensures consultants are well-versed in both insurance and public health, enabling them to effectively support clients. This underscores Manulife’s commitment to empowering clients to live healthier, more proactive lives.
