On September 30th, Chairman of the Board of Directors Dang Ngoc Hoa led a delegation to inspect the progress of Vietnam Airlines’ projects at Long Thanh International Airport.

During the visit, Mr. Dang Ngoc Hoa personally reviewed the progress of key projects undertaken by three subsidiaries: VAECO (Aircraft Engineering Company), VIAGS (Airport Ground Services Company), and VACS (Inflight Catering Services Company).

VAECO is accelerating the Aircraft Maintenance Project No. 1, aiming to complete the construction phase by December 19, 2025, and the entire project by June 30, 2026. Currently, the hangar foundation is 90% complete, and the Backshop is 50% complete. Some items have experienced slight delays due to weather and construction conditions but remain on track to meet the target.

Aircraft Maintenance Project No. 2 has also signed contracts and completed land preparation. It is scheduled to finalize land procedures by November 15, 2025, approve the master plan by December 9, 2025, and commence investment in 2026.

VACS reported that the Inflight Catering Facility Project No. 1 at Long Thanh Airport is progressing as planned, with construction expected to start on September 12, 2025, and complete in 259 days by June 8, 2026.

Key milestones include pile completion by October 7, basement floor and walls by November 2, and beams for floors 1, 2, and 3 by December 10. The auxiliary fence structure is set to finish by December 19, with the topping-out ceremony planned for the same date. Following the structural phase, the project will focus on electrical and equipment installation in May 2026, leading to the facility’s full operation by mid-2026.

Alongside VAECO and VACS, VIAGS is actively developing Project No. 1 for the repair, maintenance of aircraft equipment, and ground technical services. VIAGS has completed environmental and fire safety procedures, approved the underground design, and expects to approve the main structure design by early October 2025. Pile construction is complete, and foundation work is 50% done. The project is slated for topping-out in mid-November 2025 and substantial completion by December 19, 2025.

Once these three projects are completed and operational, Vietnam Airlines will establish a comprehensive aviation service ecosystem at Long Thanh Airport, encompassing aircraft maintenance, ground services, catering, and logistics.

Chairman Dang Ngoc Hoa praised the diligent preparation and urgency of the teams, urging them to adhere to government and corporation directives. He emphasized proactive collaboration with authorities to resolve legal, design, and construction issues promptly.

He stressed that these projects are not merely infrastructure but strategic components of Vietnam Airlines’ national aviation service ecosystem. During the visit, he encouraged engineers and workers, fostering innovation and responsibility to ensure timely project completion.

Long Thanh International Airport, located in Long Thanh commune, Dong Nai province, has a total investment of over $16 billion. The project is divided into three phases. Phase 1, with an investment of $5.45 billion, aims to handle 25 million passengers annually by 2026. Phase 2, from 2028 to 2032, will increase capacity to 50 million passengers per year. Phase 3, starting after 2035, will expand the airport’s capacity to 100 million passengers annually, making it Vietnam’s largest airport.
