The wholesale segment, comprising businesses and organizations purchasing for gifts, has concluded, making way for the retail market. While many temporary stalls along the streets display signs like “Buy 1 Get 1 Free” or “Buy 1 Get 3,” they remain sluggish in sales. In contrast, reputable stores are bustling with customers.

At Nhu Lan store (Tan Dinh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City), individual buyers are queuing up in large numbers. Staff confirm there are no fake promotions, only discounts applied for bulk purchases. The highest-priced mooncake box is over 1.1 million VND, while the lowest is 260,000 VND.

Bustling mooncake purchases at Nhu Lan store

At Farmers Market, customers are flocking to buy mooncakes discounted by 50%, without boxes, primarily for consumption. A representative from the system stated that approximately 2,000 mooncakes remain, prompting a decision to clear stock to conclude the Mid-Autumn season and focus on other sales activities. According to Vo Thanh Loc, Commercial Director of Farmers Market, the market faced challenges this year due to many businesses cutting gift expenses. Therefore, depending on initial planning, well-calculated units profit, while others risk losses.
