The Tran Hung Dao Bridge spans a total length of 4.181 km.

The project is located in the following wards: Hong Ha, Cua Nam, Hai Ba Trung, Bo De, and Long Bien.

The starting point is at the five-way intersection of Tran Hung Dao, Tran Thanh Tong, Le Thanh Tong, Tang Bat Ho, and Han Thuyen streets, in Cua Nam and Hai Ba Trung wards. The endpoint is at the intersection with Nguyen Son Street in Bo De ward.

With a total length of 4.181 km, the bridge itself spans 870 meters. Its cross-section is 43 meters wide, accommodating 6 vehicle lanes, 2 bicycle lanes, and 2 pedestrian lanes. The structure features a continuous steel arch design, creating an infinite effect.

The approach bridges on both sides of the Red River and Long Bien span approximately 1,213 meters, constructed with prestressed concrete box girders. Their width ranges from 26 to 41.5 meters, designed for a speed of 80 km/h.

The project includes two interchanges: one at the right bank of the Red River (Nguyen Khoai – Tran Khanh Du) and another at the left bank (Long Bien – Xuan Quan roads).

Previously, the Hanoi People’s Committee submitted a proposal to the City Council for adjustments to the investment policy of the Tran Hung Dao Bridge project under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, specifically a Build-Transfer (BT) contract.

The investor’s compensation method involves four land plots totaling approximately 635 hectares. Specific details regarding location, area, planning information, estimated value, and valuation methods will be determined during project appraisal and approval.

The proposed land plots for investor compensation include: 25.4 hectares in Phu Dong commune; 56 hectares in Dong Anh district; 49 hectares in Dong Anh district; and a portion of a 505-hectare area spanning Phu Dong and Dong Anh communes.

The Tran Hung Dao Bridge will connect central Hanoi with the eastern region, completing the city’s east-west connectivity. It will foster urban, industrial, commercial, and service development, driving socio-economic growth and creating an architectural landmark for the city.

The project will alleviate traffic pressure on existing Red River bridges such as Long Bien, Chuong Duong, Vinh Tuy, and Thanh Tri, facilitating travel between the city center and eastern development zones.

This infrastructure is expected to progressively enhance Hanoi’s transportation network according to planning, improving traffic infrastructure quality and safety in the capital.

Construction of the Tran Hung Dao Bridge is projected for substantial completion by 2027, with the Hanoi Transportation Infrastructure Investment Project Management Board as the lead investor.
