Hanoi Seizes Nearly 4,000 Smuggled Mooncakes Ahead of Mid-Autumn Festival

Upon inspection, authorities discovered a truck transporting 3,840 mooncakes without invoices, confirming them as smuggled goods.

On October 3rd, the Hanoi Market Management Department announced that their task force had intercepted nearly 4,000 smuggled mooncakes destined for the local market.

The previous day, October 2nd, Team No. 2 of the Hanoi Market Management Department, in collaboration with Hoan Kiem Ward Police, inspected a vehicle with license plate 29D-219.04 parked in front of 16A Ly Nam De Street, Hoan Kiem Ward.

During the inspection, authorities discovered 3,840 foreign-made mooncakes being transported in the vehicle.

Authorities seize and handle nearly 4,000 smuggled mooncakes

When questioned, the owner, Mr. P.X.M (born in 1980, residing in Ha Dong District, Hanoi), failed to provide legal invoices or documents proving the origin and legality of the mooncakes.

As per regulations, the entire batch was classified as smuggled goods. Authorities have confiscated the mooncakes and will process the case according to the law.

Team No. 2 of the Market Management Department is expected to issue an administrative fine of 10 million VND to the owner and order the destruction of all 3,840 smuggled mooncakes.
