The People’s Committee of Quang Tri Province, in collaboration with Sun Group, recently launched three large-scale mixed-use urban development projects: Nhat Le Coastal Urban Area, Dong Hoi Central Urban Area, and Le Ky West River Urban Area. The total investment for these projects exceeds 38 trillion VND.
This event is part of the activities celebrating the 1st Provincial Party Congress of Quang Tri for the 2025–2030 term. These projects are considered the largest urban development investments in the province’s history, marking a new milestone in attracting infrastructure investment.
According to the plan, the total area of the three urban zones is nearly 780 hectares, designed as multi-functional urban areas integrating residential, commercial, service, tourism, and entertainment spaces. These developments are expected to expand urban land, broaden urban areas, redistribute the population, and boost service and tourism growth along the coast.
Strategically located near the sea and rivers, these projects are in prime areas designated for tourism and urban development in Quang Tri. They are also part of the tourism triangle connecting Phong Nha – Ke Bang, Vung Chua – Yen Island, and Nhat Le – Bao Ninh, enhancing connectivity within the North Central Coast region.

The region’s transportation infrastructure, including National Highway 1A and Ho Chi Minh Road, facilitates easy access to these urban areas. Located just 10 minutes from Dong Hoi Airport and railway station, the projects are well-connected to road, rail, and air networks. Residents and visitors can quickly reach administrative centers, hospitals, schools, plazas, and local cultural heritage sites.
Detailed planning includes public amenities such as education, healthcare, sports facilities, and green spaces. Landscape areas, water features, and open spaces are integrated to leverage the local natural environment, characterized by river systems and coastal sand dunes, ensuring harmonious development with the North Central Coast’s climate and scenery.
Sun Group has tailored each project to its unique features. The Nhat Le Coastal Urban Area, spanning over 276 hectares with an investment of more than 12.5 trillion VND, is located along Nhat Le Beach and Quang Phu sand dunes. It combines residential, commercial, and public facilities, emphasizing coastal living.
The Dong Hoi Central Urban Area, covering over 212 hectares with an investment of over 11.9 trillion VND, is adjacent to Bau Tro Lake. Designed as a sustainable eco-city, it allocates over 60 hectares to green spaces, parks, gardens, and water landscapes, fostering a nature-integrated lifestyle.
The Le Ky West River Urban Area, spanning over 291 hectares with an investment of nearly 13.9 trillion VND, is developed along the western bank of the Le Ky River. This riverfront urban area includes residential, commercial, public service, park, and cultural-entertainment zones, all connected by waterways.
At the launch ceremony, Mr. Dang Minh Truong, Chairman of Sun Group, stated: “Sun Group’s journey of ‘Beautifying Regions’ spans nearly two decades. After transforming Da Nang, Phu Quoc, Sa Pa, Tay Ninh, Quang Ninh, and Thanh Hoa, we are now committed to Quang Tri.
This initiative is crucial for Quang Tri to leverage its potential, develop tourism as a key economic sector, and create world-class tourism products, entertainment hubs, and urban areas. This will drive sustainable economic growth and establish Quang Tri as a prominent national and international destination.”
Following administrative restructuring, Quang Tri has unlocked vast development opportunities. By leveraging its natural and historical heritage, the province aims to strengthen its role in the East-West and North-South economic corridors, becoming a strategic hub for economic, trade, tourism, and investment cooperation within ASEAN and the Mekong sub-region.
