The preparatory session of the 1st Congress of the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee has adopted the working regulations and the Congress’s internal rules. It has also elected the Presidium, the Secretariat, and the Delegate Eligibility Review Board, and approved the agenda for the official session tomorrow (October 3).

Mr. Nguyen Minh Dung, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council, presented the Congress’s agenda.

According to the Political Report submitted to the Congress, over the past five years of implementing the Resolution of the Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term, Vinh Long Province has achieved significant results, meeting most of its key targets.

During this term, the province’s economy has grown steadily, with notable advancements in transportation infrastructure, renewable energy, trade, services, and tourism. High-tech agriculture and new rural development have yielded positive outcomes, improving the livelihoods of the people.

Delegates voted to approve the Congress’s working regulations.

The province’s efforts in Party building and rectification have been comprehensive and synchronized, enhancing the leadership capacity and combat strength of Party organizations and members. Unity within the Party and social consensus have been strengthened. Inspection and supervision have been intensified, with strict handling of violations. Anti-corruption, waste prevention, and negativity combat have achieved positive results.

However, the report also highlights limitations, such as some targets not being met, uneven growth quality, inadequate planning and investment attraction, and low competitiveness.

For the 2025-2030 term, the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee aims to mobilize and effectively utilize all resources for rapid and sustainable socio-economic development. The focus will be on maximizing the strengths of the maritime economy, eco-agriculture, renewable energy, logistics services, coastal tourism, and cultural-ecological tourism. The goal is to position Vinh Long as a maritime economic hub, a renewable energy production center, and a province with a modern, synchronized infrastructure system, seamlessly connected with other localities in the Mekong Delta region.

To achieve these goals, the province has set 31 key targets, 6 core tasks, and 3 strategic breakthroughs. These include an average economic growth rate (GRDP) of 10% per year, with per capita GRDP reaching over 169 million VND by 2030. The local budget is expected to grow by an average of 7% annually.
