Da Nang Attracts Investment in Smart Urban Development, Aviation, and Maritime Sectors in the Netherlands

From October 3-4, a delegation from Da Nang City, led by the Chairman of the City People's Council, Nguyen Duc Dung, successfully launched an investment promotion program with partners in the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

In Amsterdam, the delegation collaborated with the Amsterdam Smart City Project Management Agency to explore the city’s smart city model. The meeting was attended by Vietnam’s Ambassador to the Netherlands, Mr. Ngo Huong Nam.

Ms. Dagmar Keim, Project Director, discussed the evolution of Amsterdam’s smart city initiatives, from conceptualization to real-world projects. She highlighted innovative solutions addressing urban challenges such as housing, energy, flooding, and climate change. The discussion also covered Amsterdam’s public-private partnerships and public sector workforce development.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Dung, Chairman of Da Nang City Council, outlined Da Nang’s focus areas and cooperation strategies in science, technology, innovation, digital transformation, and smart city development.

“Da Nang seeks continued guidance from Amsterdam in investment, management, and consultancy to build a modern, distinctive, and livable smart city,” emphasized Chairman Nguyen Duc Dung.

During the meeting with NACO, a leading airport planning firm with global expertise and a strong presence in Vietnam, Vice Chairman Tran Nam Hung provided updates on the Chu Lai International Airport upgrade project.

The Vietnamese government has designated Chu Lai Airport as a 4F-class international airport. Da Nang is also planning integrated development around the airport, including commercial, logistics, and high-tech zones.

City leaders invited NACO to explore collaboration opportunities in designing an eco-friendly, smart, energy-efficient, and internationally compliant airport.

Da Nang plans to launch a public-private partnership investment call for Chu Lai Airport in early 2026. The city encourages NACO to connect with reputable international investors in airport development and operations.

In Amsterdam, the delegation met with Royal Bokalis Westminster N.V., a global leader in maritime infrastructure construction and maintenance. They discussed potential collaborations on Da Nang projects, including Lien Chieu Port, Cua Lo Channel dredging, Truong Giang River dredging, and land reclamation initiatives.
