Over the past period, the Ministry of Construction, alongside investors and relevant authorities, has focused on implementing several critical projects aimed at meeting the technical requirements for calibration and technical flights.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has issued Performance-Based Navigation (PBN) procedures and the Instrument Landing System/Distance Measuring Equipment (ILS/DME) approach for Long Thanh International Airport. This marks a significant step in ensuring aircraft can safely perform takeoff and landing operations once the airport becomes operational.
Additionally, the calibration of the approach lighting system, Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI), and ILS/DME systems on runway 1 (05L/23R) has been completed, meeting international technical standards.
The CAAV has issued an Aeronautical Information Circular (AIC) announcing plans for the first technical and commercial flights at Long Thanh. On October 16, the official Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP) is expected to be released, providing the basis for air traffic management in support of the technical flight scheduled for December 19.

From October 6 to 8, the calibration team will continue to calibrate the VOR/DME station, radar, and ADS-B surveillance systems. Subsequently, from October 9 to 11, traditional VOR/DME flight procedures will be evaluated to further enhance the navigation suite for Long Thanh International Airport.
According to the Ministry of Construction, all tasks are progressing as planned, with close coordination among stakeholders. Based on upcoming results, the Ministry will compile and report to the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister in the next reporting cycle, ensuring all conditions are met for the technical flight and the subsequent commercial operations at Long Thanh International Airport.
