On the morning of October 6th, the Gia Lai Provincial Police’s Security Investigation Agency executed a two-month detention order against Mrs. Vo Thi Phung (born in 1979, residing in Tan Phung 1 village, Phu My Dong commune, Gia Lai province). She is under investigation for “Abusing democratic freedoms to infringe upon the interests of the State, lawful rights, and interests of organizations and individuals” under Article 331 of the Penal Code.

According to initial investigation findings, on the morning of August 19, 2025, at the groundbreaking ceremony for Phase 1 of the Phu My Industrial Zone (Phu My Dong commune), Mrs. Vo Thi Phung used her Facebook account “Phung Vo” to livestream six videos showing a large crowd of people gathered.
In these videos, Mrs. Phung repeatedly shouted, incited, and urged people to share images, while also posting numerous distorted and false statements about the project. These included claims that the project had not yet been approved for land-use conversion, lacked environmental impact assessments, and had not consulted local residents.
Her actions negatively impacted the reputation of the business and local authorities, while also disrupting public security and socio-political stability in the area.
After compiling the case file, on September 24, 2025, the Gia Lai Provincial Police’s Security Investigation Agency issued a decision to initiate legal proceedings, prosecute the suspect, and order Mrs. Vo Thi Phung’s detention. On October 3rd, the Gia Lai Provincial People’s Procuracy approved these decisions.
During questioning, Mrs. Vo Thi Phung admitted to her violations, cooperated fully, and pleaded for leniency under the law.
