Due to severe thunderstorms affecting the airport area, visibility has significantly decreased. Noi Bai International Airport has coordinated with air traffic control authorities to adjust operational procedures.

In a statement to the Government Electronic Newspaper, a representative from Noi Bai International Airport confirmed that due to heavy thunderstorms in the vicinity, reduced visibility has prompted the airport to collaborate with air traffic control to modify operational protocols, ensuring absolute safety for takeoffs and landings.

“During hazardous weather conditions, some flights may be affected. Passengers are advised to monitor updates from their respective airlines to proactively plan their travel safely and conveniently,” the airport representative added.

Multiple Flights Adjusted

Meanwhile, Vietnam Airlines urges passengers to actively check weather and traffic conditions, and to arrive at the airport well in advance to complete check-in procedures on time.

The airline recommends passengers arrive at least 2 hours prior to domestic flight departures and 3 hours for international flights to ensure a smooth check-in process. Additionally, passengers should frequently check airport information screens for any gate changes.

Similarly, a Vietjet representative noted that due to heavy rainfall in Hanoi on October 7th, passengers scheduled to fly today should plan their travel to the airport accordingly. The airline also warned that some Vietjet flights to and from Noi Bai Airport (Hanoi) may need to adjust their schedules until weather conditions improve.

“During adverse weather, airlines greatly appreciate passengers’ understanding, as these are force majeure events that incur significant costs. However, passenger safety remains our top priority,” the Vietjet representative emphasized.

A Bamboo Airways spokesperson also advised passengers to travel to the airport earlier than usual to avoid congestion and delays. The airline added that to ensure safety, Noi Bai Airport has temporarily capped arrivals at 10 flights per hour until approximately 11 AM on October 7th. Aircraft must queue for safe takeoff and landing conditions, which may impact flight schedules across airlines, including Bamboo Airways.
