Under the auspices of Vietnam’s Minister of Finance, Nguyen Van Thang, Singapore’s Minister of Manpower and Second Minister for Trade and Industry, Dr. Tan See Leng, and Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Phu Tho Province, Nguyen Khac Hieu, Dr. Robert Yap, Chairman of YCH Group, and Dr. Yap Kwong Weng, CEO of Vietnam SuperPort™, officially inaugurated the Off-Airport Cargo Terminal (OACT). This strategic facility is a cornerstone of Vietnam SuperPort™’s multimodal logistics ecosystem.

This milestone event not only introduces a new paradigm in cargo transportation but also underscores the robust collaboration between Vietnamese and Singaporean enterprises. It signifies a significant step in enhancing Vietnam’s economic integration within the global value chain.

Earlier, at the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations World Congress (FWC 2025) in Hanoi, Vietnam SuperPort™ unveiled critical details about OACT’s development strategy and operational plans.

As one of Vietnam’s pioneering off-airport cargo terminals, OACT functions as a fully integrated “off-airport cargo station,” offering services such as customs clearance, security screening, storage, ULD handling, and airport transportation. Cargo is processed under stringent controls from receipt to aircraft loading.

Equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure compliant with international security standards, OACT is capable of handling goods from stringent markets like the U.S. and Europe, ensuring seamless operations for multiple enterprises and carriers.

Delegates commemorate the event with a group photo.

Strategically located in the Northern Economic Corridor, OACT connects over 20 major industrial zones with key ports and airports such as Noi Bai, Hai Phong, and Quang Ninh, extending to Yunnan and Kunming in China. It serves as a vital transshipment hub between Vietnam, China, ASEAN, and global aviation networks, linking to key markets like the U.S., Europe, and Asia.

“OACT is a transformative initiative, acting as an extension of airport cargo terminals,” stated Dr. Yap Kwong Weng, CEO of Vietnam SuperPort™. “Its launch not only completes our multimodal logistics ecosystem but also alleviates up to 25% of cargo pressure at major airports, enhancing global connectivity for domestic goods.”

Positioned as a smart, modern cargo terminal, OACT leverages cutting-edge technologies such as AI and robotics. Vietnam SuperPort™ has partnered with Google and Kyndryl to develop advanced AI for security screening and automated document verification, bolstering safety and efficiency.

Additionally, with support from Singapore’s Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Vietnam SuperPort™ is developing Autonomous Guided Vehicles (AGVs), robotic loaders, and Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) to automate warehouse operations, aiming to boost productivity by 35% and reduce errors by 50%.

OACT is set to be fully digitized, integrated with a logistics platform enabling real-time tracking, management, and online booking of services—from customs declarations to digital payments. This advancement is pivotal in establishing a fully digital aviation supply chain, connecting Vietnam to ASEAN’s smart logistics network and beyond.

“The launch of OACT underscores the enduring partnership between Vietnam and Singapore, reflecting strategic foresight, technology sharing, and a shared vision for a smart, sustainable, and interconnected regional supply chain,” remarked Dr. Robert Yap, Executive Chairman of YCH Group. “This initiative positions ASEAN as a global trade hub.”
