Honda Unveils New ‘National Electric Scooter’: Compact Design, 100 km Range on a Single Charge, Priced at Just Over $400

In late September, Honda Wuyang, Honda’s joint venture in China, officially unveiled the U-be 2026, a fully upgraded version of the popular U-be electric scooter. Designed for urban commuters, this compact scooter targets young riders, particularly women and city dwellers.

Positioned in the small urban scooter segment, the U-be 2026 is priced between 3,599 and 4,599 Chinese Yuan (approximately $480–$615 USD). When imported to Vietnam, the price is expected to range from 20 to 25 million VND, depending on the importer and location.

Measuring 1,667 x 727 x 1,072 mm and weighing just 63 kg, the U-be 2026 offers exceptional maneuverability in crowded city streets.

Compared to its predecessor, the exterior is now crafted from aluminum-magnesium alloy, enhancing durability and modernity. The glossy metal panels not only elevate its aesthetics but also comply with China’s new national safety standards, setting it apart from competitors in its price range.

The U-be 2026 features an intelligent battery protection system with IP67 dust and water resistance. The battery includes multiple safeguards against overcharging, overheating, short circuits, and low voltage. A multi-function controller automatically cuts power in case of emergencies, ensuring maximum safety.

The upgraded TCS traction control system and dual-piston disc brakes on both wheels provide stability in wet and slippery conditions. The frame is manufactured using full digital precision technology, ensuring high accuracy and durability—a hallmark of Honda’s production philosophy.

Rider comfort is prioritized with a 730 mm seat height, tailored for Asian riders, and a 5-level adjustable rear suspension for personalized comfort. Additional features include a front utility hook, USB charging port, and spacious footrests, catering to daily commuting needs.

A standout feature is the keyless unlocking system, offering NFC, mobile app, Bluetooth, and digital key sharing options. The companion app allows riders to monitor battery status, locate the scooter, customize settings, and receive alerts for unusual movements—a feature typically found in premium models.

Honda offers three battery options for the U-be 2026: a 48V12Ah lead-acid battery with a 40 km range, a 24Ah lithium-ion battery with an 80 km range, and a 30Ah lithium-ion battery with a 105 km range. All variants have a top speed of 25 km/h, ideal for short urban trips.

Available in four colors—Silver, White, Classic Black, and Milky White—the latter is particularly popular among female riders for its sleek and modern appeal.

With its affordable price, stylish design, and advanced features, the Honda U-be 2026 is poised to dominate China’s growing market for compact, eco-friendly electric scooters.
