The Geely Galaxy Starshine 7 plug-in hybrid electric sedan (PHEV) has recently appeared on the list of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China (MIIT), revealing intriguing details about its design and features. This marks the next step in Geely Galaxy’s strategy to expand the Starshine lineup in the domestic market.
The Starshine 7 continues the design language of the Starshine series, showcasing a modern aesthetic that emphasizes balance and luxury. The front grille features a large trapezoidal design, accented with vertical chrome strips that create a waterfall effect—similar to the Starshine 6. The vehicle retains traditional door handles, while the rear boasts a striking horizontal taillight design, complemented by the centrally placed “GEELY” logo.
The Starshine 7 offers various configuration options, including grille designs, wheel styles, privacy glass, radar, cameras, and tire choices of 225/55R18 or 235/45R19.
According to MIIT data, the Geely Galaxy Starshine 7 measures 4,958 mm in length, 1,915 mm in width, and 1,505 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,852 mm. Its curb weight ranges from 1,815 to 1,860 kg, depending on the variant. Compared to the Starshine 6 (4,806 x 1,886 x 1,490 mm, wheelbase 2,756 mm), the Starshine 7 is significantly larger, targeting the mid-to-high-end sedan segment.
A standout feature of the Starshine 7 is Geely’s new NordThor AI 2.0 plug-in hybrid system. It pairs a 1.5L BHE15-BFN gasoline engine, delivering a maximum output of 82 kW (110 hp), with a lithium iron phosphate battery. The top speed is reported at 190 km/h.
Geely has yet to disclose details about the electric motor, battery capacity, or all-electric range. However, the Starshine 7 is expected to match or exceed the performance of the Starshine 6, which uses the same NordThor AI 2.0 system with a 120 kW (160 hp) electric motor. The Starshine 6 offers two battery options—8.5 kWh and 17 kWh—providing electric ranges of 60 km and 125 km, respectively.
Currently, the Geely Galaxy Starshine 8 is available in China, priced between 115,800 and 155,800 CNY (approximately $16,300 – $21,900). Meanwhile, the smaller Starshine 6, launched in late September, starts at 85,800 CNY and goes up to 118,800 CNY ($12,000 – $16,650).
With its larger size and similar powertrain, the Starshine 7 is likely to be positioned between these two models, catering to buyers seeking a spacious, efficient, and technologically advanced PHEV sedan.
The inclusion of the Starshine 7 in the MIIT list indicates that Geely is preparing for its official launch, further solidifying the brand’s position in China’s rapidly growing plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) market.
