While many electronics categories are dominated by imports, particularly from China, Vietnamese brands firmly hold their ground in the freezer, refrigerator, and water purifier segments.

Observations from major electronics retailers reveal that most freezers and refrigerators on display are Vietnamese brands such as Sanaky, Alaska, Darling, and Kangaroo. These brands offer competitive pricing due to localized component sourcing and assembly, extensive distribution networks, and robust after-sales service, giving them a strong home-field advantage.

Retailers acknowledge that consumers favor familiar brands with convenient repair and warranty services. In contrast, Chinese products often lack clear origins or established brands, making them less competitive despite lower prices.

Vietnamese freezer brands dominate major electronics retailers

Mr. Hà Đức Hùng, Director of Darling Electronics & Refrigeration Co., Ltd., stated that Darling’s freezers and refrigerators are the company’s flagship products. “While Chinese imports benefit from 0% import tax, their high transportation costs result in prices comparable to Vietnamese products. Additionally, Chinese goods are mass-produced for global markets, whereas Vietnamese brands like Darling incorporate features tailored to local consumers,” Mr. Hùng explained.

According to a Karofi representative, consumers trust Vietnamese products due to their proven quality over the years. Karofi has leveraged advanced technology to enhance market competitiveness, achieving consistent annual sales growth.

Experts note that freezers and water purifiers typically involve straightforward technology, allowing Vietnamese manufacturers to compete effectively with major producers like China. However, to maintain market leadership, Vietnamese companies must continue investing in technology, design, and energy efficiency.
