According to the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), Component 3 of the Long Thanh International Airport project, titled “Essential Airport Facilities,” boasts a total investment of over 99 trillion VND. This phase includes two runways, a passenger terminal, and auxiliary systems, designed to handle 25 million passengers and 1.2 million tons of cargo annually.

Land clearance and compensation are now complete. ACV has received 5,000 hectares, with 99.8% of the boundary fencing in place, leaving only 50 meters pending handover. Over 14,000 experts, engineers, and workers, along with 3,000 pieces of equipment, are working around the clock to meet deadlines.

Recent heavy rains have significantly impacted underground works, drainage systems, and road foundations. Despite this, ACV has directed contractors to adjust schedules and manpower, aiming to complete the project by late 2025 and commence commercial operations in early 2026.

All 15 project packages are progressing simultaneously. Three packages—boundary fencing, land leveling, and passenger terminal piling—are complete. The remaining 12 are accelerating, with several ahead of schedule.

The runway, taxiway, and apron package (4.6) is nearly complete. On September 26th, Long Thanh Airport received its first calibration flight, a key milestone toward timely completion.

The apron package (4.7) is expected to finish its main components by December 31, 2025, five months ahead of schedule. Overlapping areas with underground utilities will be completed by March 2026.

The internal transport and utilities package (4.8) is on track. Technical tunnels and main roads connecting the terminal are slated for completion by December 19, 2025, along with the elevated bridge and central power station.

For the fuel supply system (4.9), PTSC – BCA Thang Long is deploying nearly 700 personnel. Construction is set to finish in 2025, with imported equipment testing in Q1 2026, three months ahead of schedule.

The passenger terminal package (5.10), the project’s centerpiece, is nearing completion. ACV aims to finish construction and equipment installation by December 31, 2025, despite the contract extending to November 2026.

The main roof and canopies are complete, with the steel structure for the tube-shaped enclosure expected to finish in October 2025.

Finishing works like plastering, stone laying, and glass installation are accelerating. Electrical systems, fire safety, escalators, baggage handling, and passenger bridges are being installed for testing by June 2026.

Supporting facilities—parking (11.5), cargo terminal (7.8), and wastewater treatment (4.11)—are also accelerating to ensure completion by December 19, 2025, aligning with the airport’s overall timeline.

Dong Nai Province has allocated 14 quarries to meet material demands. ACV is committed to resolving bottlenecks to ensure the project’s timely completion.

Despite the massive workload, the dedication of tens of thousands of engineers and workers is turning the vision of Long Thanh Airport—Vietnam’s largest international airport—into reality by late 2025, with commercial operations starting in early 2026.
