This afternoon (October 13), international coffee exchanges in London (UK) and New York (USA) will open for trading.

Farmers Begin Coffee Harvesting

Previously, the last trading session closed with November 2025 Robusta futures at $4,480 per ton. December 2025 Arabica futures reached $8,220 per ton.

Domestically, the average coffee price hovers around 113,800 VND/kg, and farmers are optimistic about today’s potential price increase.

Although this price is favorable compared to the beginning of last season, it falls short of farmers’ expectations. Last season, coffee prices peaked at around 130,000 VND/kg for an extended period.

Vietnam’s coffee harvest begins in October and ends in January of the following year, with November and December as peak months. Currently, farmers are selectively harvesting, primarily selling fresh coffee to agents for drying.

Typically, coffee prices tend to decline during the harvest season. However, this year, prices may remain stable or rise slightly as Robusta, being cheaper than Arabica, is gaining market preference.

U.S. Imports of Vietnamese Coffee Surge

U.S. Imports Skyrocket

According to customs data, Vietnam exported nearly 1.24 million tons of coffee in the first nine months of 2025, an 11.7% increase compared to the same period last year.

In September alone, Vietnam exported 5,528 tons of coffee to the U.S., up 81% from August and 163% from September 2024.

For the first nine months, the U.S. imported 70,834 tons of Vietnamese coffee, valued at $387.6 million. This represents a 10.2% increase in volume and a 65% rise in value compared to the same period last year.

The U.S. is now Vietnam’s sixth-largest coffee importer, following Germany, Italy, Spain, Algeria, and Japan.

Since August 2025, the U.S. has imposed countervailing duties on various goods. Vietnamese coffee faces a 20% tariff, while Brazilian coffee is taxed at 50%. Leveraging this advantage, U.S. importers are increasingly shifting to Vietnamese coffee.
