Despite the high gold prices, consumers are finding it difficult to purchase gold. Most brands have halted sales of SJC gold bars and gold rings. A few companies still selling gold rings are either scheduling appointments or limiting purchases to a maximum of a few candareens to one tael per day.

Due to market scarcity and high consumer demand, the black market is quoting gold bars and gold rings at up to 170 million VND per tael.

Domestic gold prices are rising sharply due to the continuous increase in global gold prices. This morning, the global gold price reached a record high of 4,370 USD/ounce, a 160 USD increase compared to yesterday morning.

In the currency market, the central exchange rate was set by the State Bank at 25,109 VND/USD, a 5 VND decrease compared to yesterday morning.

Bank USD prices were listed at 26,124 – 26,364 VND/USD (buy – sell).
