On October 17, the Da Nang Department of Finance announced the receipt of a proposal from Da Nang Port Joint Stock Company seeking approval for the investment policy and investor designation for the Lien Chieu Multi-Purpose, Bulk, and Container Port Construction Project.

The proposal requests that the project be implemented under the mechanism of approving the investment policy and designating the investor simultaneously, without going through land use rights auctions or investor selection bidding.

The Lien Chieu Port Project is underway in Hai Van Ward, Da Nang City.

This project is a large-scale logistics infrastructure initiative with strategic significance for the city’s maritime economic development.

Located in Hai Van Ward, the project aims to construct the Lien Chieu Multi-Purpose, Bulk, and Container Port, along with auxiliary facilities and modern, environmentally friendly technical infrastructure.

The project is expected to maximize the region’s geographical advantages and natural conditions, driving socio-economic growth not only for Da Nang but also for the North Central Coast and Central Coastal regions.

According to the plan, the total project area spans approximately 665,000 m², featuring 6 multi-purpose berths with a total berthing length of 1,550 meters, capable of accommodating vessels from 50,000 to 100,000 DWT, and 5 cargo collection berths totaling 500 meters for vessels up to 5,000 DWT.

The port’s backend area will include warehouses, administrative offices, service buildings, repair workshops, modern technical infrastructure, and specialized equipment to ensure efficient operations.

Key port services will encompass loading and unloading, storage, customs clearance for domestic and international goods, road, sea, and inland waterway transportation, as well as container handling and maintenance.

The project has a 50-year operational term, funded by investor equity and other legally mobilized capital sources.

The development of the Lien Chieu Port is considered a crucial step in establishing Da Nang as a logistics hub and international maritime gateway for the Central and Central Highlands regions, enhancing the regional port and transportation infrastructure network.
