On the morning of October 16, the People’s Committee of Mui Ne Ward, Lam Dong Province, in collaboration with relevant authorities, carried out a forced eviction to restore the status quo of nearly 7,500 square meters of land illegally encroached upon in the renowned Sand Dunes of Mui Ne (part of the Mui Ne National Tourist Area).

The illegally encroached land spanning nearly 7,500 square meters in the Sand Dunes of Mui Ne.
The land in question was occupied by Mr. Lai Thien Phuoc (born in 1975, residing in Mui Ne Ward). It was addressed under Decision No. 781/QĐ-CCXP dated June 20, 2025, by the Chairman of the People’s Committee of Lam Dong Province, mandating remedial actions.
On the same morning, approximately 100 personnel and various vehicles and equipment were mobilized to execute the eviction. Authorities dismantled unauthorized structures, removed illegally planted vegetation, and conducted measurements to hand over the violated land area to the People’s Committee of Mui Ne Ward for further management in accordance with regulations.

Approximately 100 personnel and numerous vehicles and equipment were mobilized for the eviction process.
As previously reported by Tien Phong in 2022, approximately 73,000 square meters of land adjacent to the famous Sand Dunes of Mui Ne in the Mui Ne National Tourist Area (Phan Thiet City, former Binh Thuan Province) had been illegally encroached upon and transferred by multiple individuals, who then erected numerous permanent structures.
To date, the People’s Committee of Mui Ne Ward has successfully evicted one case of land encroachment involving Mr. Lai Thien Phuoc, reclaiming nearly 7,500 square meters of state-managed land. The remaining area, exceeding 63,000 square meters, illegally occupied by two other individuals, is currently under review by authorities, who are compiling evidence for further eviction actions to restore the original state of the land.
