General Secretary Tô Lâm welcomed the visit of Murphy Oil Corporation’s leadership to Vietnam during the 30th anniversary of the normalization of Vietnam-U.S. relations. Acknowledging the corporation’s long-term investment and positive business outcomes in Vietnam, General Secretary Tô Lâm applauded Murphy Oil’s decision to expand and increase its oil and gas exploration investments in Vietnam in the coming years.

General Secretary Tô Lâm emphasized Vietnam’s commitment to its relationship with the United States, expressing a desire for the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations to continue flourishing. He highlighted energy cooperation as a key focus of bilateral relations, benefiting both countries’ businesses and peoples, as well as contributing to regional and global peace, stability, and development.

Sharing Vietnam’s energy sector vision and development strategy to achieve its 2030 and 2045 goals, General Secretary Tô Lâm stressed the importance of ensuring energy security, efficient resource utilization, environmental protection, and climate change adaptation. He expressed optimism about Vietnam’s development potential, particularly in the oil and gas industry, in the years ahead.

General Secretary Tô Lâm affirmed that Vietnam would continue creating favorable conditions for foreign energy sector investments, including those from the United States. He urged Murphy Oil Corporation to maintain close coordination with Vietnamese ministries, agencies, and partners to accelerate oil and gas project implementation, technology transfer, knowledge sharing, and high-quality human resource training, thereby contributing to Vietnam’s development and the Vietnam-U.S. relationship.

Mr. Eric Hambly, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Murphy Oil Corporation, expressed his honor at being received by General Secretary Tô Lâm. He shared the corporation’s global business strategy, emphasizing Vietnam’s continued importance as a key partner.

The Murphy Oil leadership sincerely thanked Vietnam for its support and the effective cooperation from the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group in the corporation’s oil and gas exploration activities over the years.

Citing the corporation’s achievements and confidence in Vietnam’s strong growth potential in the coming years, Mr. Eric Hambly reaffirmed Murphy Oil’s commitment to increasing its investments in Vietnam.
