On the morning of October 17th, the 18th Congress of the Hanoi Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term commenced its second working day at the National Convention Center. The Congress convened 550 delegates representing nearly 50,000 party members across the city’s Party Committee.
Opening the second session, on behalf of the Presidium, Mr. Tran Sy Thanh, Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, reported to the Congress the outcomes of the first meeting of the 18th City Party Committee Executive Board.
Accordingly, on the afternoon of October 16th, the Congress elected the 18th City Party Committee Executive Board, comprising 75 members. At the first meeting held the same day, the 18th City Party Committee Executive Board elected Ms. Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Politburo Member, Secretary of the 17th Hanoi Party Committee, and Head of the City’s National Assembly Delegation, to serve as Secretary of the 18th Hanoi Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term.
The Deputy Secretaries of the 18th Hanoi Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term are:
Mr. Tran Sy Thanh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the 17th Party Committee, and Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee; Mr. Nguyen Van Phong, Standing Deputy Secretary of the 17th Hanoi Party Committee; Ms. Phung Thi Hong Ha, Member of the Standing Committee of the 17th Hanoi Party Committee, and Standing Vice Chairwoman of the City People’s Council; Mr. Nguyen Trong Dong, Member of the Standing Committee of the 17th Party Committee, and Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee.
The 18th City Party Committee Executive Board also elected the 18th Inspection Commission, consisting of 12 members. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Luu, Member of the Standing Committee of the 18th Hanoi Party Committee and Director of the Department of Finance, was entrusted to serve as Head of the 18th Inspection Commission.
The 18th Congress of the Hanoi Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term was held over three days from October 15th to 17th, 2025, at the National Convention Center in Hanoi.
The Congress underscores the determination of the Party Committee and the people of the capital to pioneer alongside the nation into a new era—an era of prosperity and strength for the Vietnamese people. It plays a pivotal role in achieving the country’s development goals by 2030, with a vision toward 2045.
Under the theme, “Upholding the thousand-year tradition of civilization and heroism; united in building a clean and strong Party Committee; pioneering and breaking through in the new era; developing a civilized, modern, and happy capital,” the 18th Congress of the Hanoi Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term stands as a momentous political event.
