Top Car Models Driving Sales for Automakers in Vietnam

Most of the best-selling models from major automakers in Vietnam are urban crossover SUVs, such as the Toyota Yaris Cross, Mazda CX-5, and Hyundai Tucson. Notably, Honda stands out with its flagship model being the City, a B-segment sedan.

Typically, each car brand has 1-2 flagship models that shoulder the bulk of the brand’s sales. Depending on the product lifecycle stage, market trends, and sales strategies, the top-selling model can vary.

Below is a compilation of the flagship models from various car brands in Vietnam. The data is sourced from sales reports by VAMA, VinFast, and TC Motor as of September 2025.

VinFast VF 3 and VF 5

Since the beginning of the year, the VF 3 and VF 5 have consistently topped monthly sales charts, not just for VinFast but also across the entire market. In the first nine months of 2025, the duo sold a combined total of 62,342 units, accounting for 60% of VinFast’s total sales in Vietnam (103,884 units).

VinFast’s position as Vietnam’s top-selling car brand, led by the VF 3 and VF 5, reflects the growing demand for affordable electric vehicles. While the VF 3 offers an accessible price point for first-time car buyers, the VF 5 caters to both personal and commercial use.

Toyota Yaris Cross and Vios

Unlike last year, the urban SUV Yaris Cross has overtaken the Vios as Toyota’s best-selling model. The nine-month cumulative sales for these models are 9,655 and 8,496 units, respectively, accounting for 20% and 17.6% of Toyota Vietnam’s total sales.

The Yaris Cross saw a 40% sales increase compared to the same period in 2024, leading the B-segment gasoline SUV category. Meanwhile, the Toyota Vios experienced a modest 3.5% growth, maintaining its position as Vietnam’s top-selling B-segment sedan.

Hyundai Tucson and Creta

With the once-popular Accent losing its edge, Hyundai’s current flagship in Vietnam is the Tucson SUV.

In the first nine months, the Tucson sold 5,910 units, contributing 22% to Hyundai’s passenger car sales. The Hyundai Tucson is also the only C-segment SUV, alongside the Mazda CX-5, to lead a brand’s sales.

The Creta sold 5,092 units during the same period, accounting for nearly 19% of Hyundai’s total sales. In contrast, last year’s flagship, the Accent, sold 5,035 units, a 38% decline compared to the first nine months of 2024, causing it to lag in the B-segment sedan race.

Mitsubishi Xpander and Xforce

With 12,438 units sold in the first nine months, the Xpander accounts for approximately 50% of Mitsubishi Vietnam’s total sales. It also leads the MPV segment, capturing around 34% market share according to VAMA data.

The Xforce delivered 8,034 units to Vietnamese customers since the beginning of the year, contributing 32% to the brand’s total sales. However, this figure represents a 19% decline compared to the same period in 2024, causing the Xforce to lose its lead in the B-segment gasoline SUV category to the Toyota Yaris Cross.

Ford Ranger and Everest

As usual, the Ranger and Everest remain Ford’s top-selling models in Vietnam, with a combined total of 20,922 units sold in the first nine months. This accounts for 62% of Ford Vietnam’s total sales.

In addition to driving Ford’s sales, the Ranger and Everest have consistently led their respective segments since the beginning of the year, showing no signs of weakening despite competitors’ efforts to reduce prices and refresh models.

Mazda CX-5

Like the two Ford models mentioned above, the Mazda CX-5 is an irreplaceable pillar for the Japanese brand, with 11,306 units sold since the beginning of the year. This figure represents approximately 52% of Mazda’s total sales in Vietnam, surpassing the combined sales of all other Mazda models.

The Mazda CX-5 currently dominates the C-segment SUV category, driven by the brand’s multi-month promotional program that reduced its price to around 709 million VND. This price point is comparable to or lower than some B-segment SUVs like the Honda HR-V or Toyota Corolla Cross.

Honda City

The only sedan currently leading Honda’s sales is the Honda City. As of September, 6,377 units have been delivered to customers, contributing 35.7% to Honda Vietnam’s total car sales.

Compared to the same period in 2024, the Honda City’s nine-month sales in 2025 increased by 5%. As a result, it rose to second place in the B-segment sedan category, just behind its compatriot rival, the Toyota Vios.

Kia Seltos

In the past, the Kia Seltos dominated the B-segment SUV category in Vietnam. However, in 2025, it has been overshadowed by competitors, particularly in the electric vehicle trend.

With 3,946 units sold in the first nine months, the Seltos remains Kia’s best-selling model, contributing 22% to the brand’s total sales. However, in the B-segment SUV category, the Korean model ranks fifth in sales.

In reality, despite leading the brand, the Seltos’ sales are not significantly higher than the two runners-up, the Carnival (3,492 units) and the Sonet (3,591 units). Each of these models contributes approximately 20% to Kia Vietnam’s total sales.
