The GAC Aion i60, dubbed the “twin sibling” of the Toyota bZ3X, is set to launch in China this November. It will be available in two powertrain options: pure electric (BEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV). Pricing starts at approximately 100,000 RMB (around $14,050 USD or 358 million VND).

The Toyota bZ3X, a compact electric SUV developed in collaboration with GAC, debuted in China in March 2025 with an initial price of 109,800 RMB ($15,430 USD). According to China EV DataTracker, cumulative sales reached 33,748 units by August 2025.

In October, GAC announced plans to introduce its own version of the bZ3X, branded as the Aion i60. This model features design and logo adjustments to align with GAC’s domestic brand identity.

Built on the modular AEP platform—shared with the bZ3X and the Aion V SUV (launched in Europe at IAA Mobility 2025)—the Aion i60 shares several components with its counterparts, including the windshield, window frames, side mirrors, doors, and wheel arches.

However, the Aion i60 distinguishes itself with unique front and rear designs, featuring distinct headlights, front bumpers, and taillights. Slightly larger than the bZ3X, it measures 4,685 x 1,854 x 1,660 mm with a 2,775 mm wheelbase, offering five-seat capacity. It rides on 18 or 19-inch wheels, with a kerb weight of 1,910 kg and a maximum load capacity of 2,350 kg.

The Aion i60 BEV variant is equipped with a single electric motor delivering 165 kW (221 hp) and a top speed of 160 km/h. The PHEV version combines a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine (74 kW/101 hp) with a 165 kW electric motor, utilizing a 29.165 kWh LFP battery for a 160 km pure electric range (CLTC cycle).

China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) confirmed that GAC completed sales certification for the Aion i60 in October, paving the way for its November 2025 launch.

GAC’s release of the Aion i60, which shares many similarities with the bZ3X, is a notable move that could introduce internal competition between the Aion brand and the GAC Toyota joint venture. Priced significantly lower than the bZ3X, the Aion i60 is poised to appeal to cost-conscious consumers prioritizing value and ownership affordability.

GAC entered Vietnam through its official distributor, TC Services Vietnam, launching on August 20, 2024, with two initial models: the M8 (large MPV) and GS8 (D-segment SUV). GAC inaugurated its first 3S showrooms in Vietnam in December 2024, including dealerships in Bac Ninh and Tan Uyen.
