On the afternoon of October 18th, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Văn Chính held a working session with the People’s Committee of Đồng Tháp Province to discuss production, business operations, infrastructure development, social housing, public investment disbursement, and the implementation of two-tier local governance.

The People’s Committee of Đồng Tháp Province reported that in the first nine months of 2025, the province’s Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) grew by nearly 7%. All economic sectors contributed positively to the overall growth, laying a strong foundation to achieve the annual target of 8% or higher.
The province proposed that the Government promptly issue regulations and guidelines for reorganizing villages, residential areas, and hamlets. They also requested additional mechanisms to support businesses leasing unused public land for production and business activities, with a focus on high-tech and innovative startups.
Đồng Tháp also urged the Ministry of Finance to allocate approximately VND 830 billion from the central budget to urgently address severe riverbank erosion in two critical areas along the Tiền River (in Thường Phước Commune and Cao Lãnh Ward).

Additionally, the province requested the Prime Minister to allocate VND 336 billion from the central budget for the urgent coastal erosion control project in Gò Công. They also called on the Ministry of Finance to support investment in national highways and expressways in the province from 2026 to 2030, enhancing regional connectivity. The Ministry of Construction was urged to approve key infrastructure projects, including the Mương Khai – Đốc Phủ Hiền canal and the Tân Châu Bridge.

He instructed Đồng Tháp to strictly implement central policies, resolutions, and directives from the Prime Minister. To achieve the 8% economic growth target in 2025, the province must develop a detailed and feasible plan. For public investment, leaders must oversee specific projects closely, and contractors must accelerate progress by working in shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
The Deputy Prime Minister also emphasized the need to attract investors, promote trade and tourism, and closely monitor flooding and natural disasters to protect lives and property. He urged the province to strengthen its workforce at the commune level, ensuring adequate staffing and competency for effective operations.
He acknowledged the province’s proposals and directed relevant ministries to take appropriate action.
