New Route Enhances Connectivity to Long Thanh Airport
An Additional Convenient Route to Long Thanh Airport Approved
Recently, the Dong Nai Provincial Project Management Board approved the upgrade and expansion of Provincial Road 769, connecting it to Long Thanh Airport.
The project spans approximately 30 km, starting at the intersection with National Highway 1 at Dau Giay Junction, Dau Giay Commune, and ending at the intersection with National Highway 51 at Loc An Junction, Long Thanh Commune, Dong Nai Province. The feasibility study report was approved with an initial investment of over 6.2 trillion VND.
This project aims to progressively complete the transportation system as per the provincial planning, enhance connectivity, and reduce travel time from the northwestern localities of Dong Nai Province, as well as the Central Highlands and South Central regions, to Long Thanh Airport. It will also connect the quadrilateral industrial zones of Bien Hoa – Long Thanh – Trang Bom – Nhon Trach.

Several infrastructure projects connecting to Long Thanh Airport are nearing completion.
Previously, the Ministry of Transport urged the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee to promptly invest in expanding Provincial Road 769 to ensure it meets the approved planning standards. This will help share traffic flow with the Dau Giay roundabout, reduce congestion and accidents, and promote socio-economic development and national defense security.
In November 2024, the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee approved the feasibility study report for compensation, support, resettlement, and site clearance for the upgrade and expansion of Provincial Road 769. The project will reclaim over 134 hectares of land, with approximately 996 households expected to be resettled.
Over time, several roads connecting to Long Thanh Airport have seen accelerated construction progress. Notable projects include the upgrade of Road 25B (from Nhon Trach Commune Center to National Highway 51) and the construction of Provincial Road 25C (from Huong Lo 19 to National Highway 51). These roads will connect Long Thanh Airport to National Highway 51, the Ben Luc – Long Thanh Expressway, and Ring Road 3 in Ho Chi Minh City. This will establish transportation routes linking Long Thanh Airport with Ho Chi Minh City, helping alleviate traffic on the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway. The projects are expected to be completed by the time Long Thanh Airport Phase 1 becomes operational.
Additionally, key infrastructure projects such as the Bien Hoa – Vung Tau Expressway, Ring Road 3, Ben Luc – Long Thanh Expressway, and the Thu Thiem – Long Thanh Railway are being accelerated or planned to ensure seamless connectivity to Long Thanh Airport.
Long Thanh Airport to Handle 80% International and 10% Domestic Flights
Long Thanh International Airport, located in Long Thanh Commune, Dong Nai Province, is approximately 40 km east of Ho Chi Minh City’s center. Strategically positioned, the airport aims to share the operational burden with the overloaded Tan Son Nhat Airport and meet the growing demand for passenger and cargo transport.
According to the plan, Long Thanh Airport will handle 80% of international flights and 10% of domestic flights, while Tan Son Nhat Airport will manage 20% of international flights and 90% of domestic flights.
Recently, Vietnam Airlines proposed to the Ministry of Construction that airlines be allowed flexibility in their operational plans during the initial phase of Long Thanh Airport’s operation to ensure resource allocation and seamless connections.
This flexibility is based on the principle that long-haul routes (intercontinental flights to the Americas, Europe, and Australia) will immediately shift to Long Thanh Airport, while regional Asian routes will gradually transition according to the planning.
Vietnam Airlines’ proposal aims to ensure Long Thanh Airport’s operation aligns with the Party and State’s vision of developing it into a regional transit hub, while maintaining the efficiency of both airports and benefiting Vietnamese airlines.

As of October 2025, the Long Thanh International Airport project is accelerating progress across all key components. According to the plan, the project is expected to be substantially completed by December 19, 2025, and commence commercial operations in early 2026.
With Long Thanh International Airport entering its final completion phase and preparing for operation next year, several nearby real estate projects are entering the final race of the year.
For instance, the FIATO Airport City project by Thang Long Real Group is a focal point in anticipation of the airport’s opening. Located on Ton Duc Thang Street (25B), the project is strategically positioned between the Thu Thiem and Long Thanh metro stations, offering residents a 5-minute commute to the airport. Notably, the Galaxy Block is expected to be handed over in Q4/2026, coinciding with the airport’s stable operation, completed regional infrastructure, and increased international visitor flow. This will create a vibrant lifestyle and bustling commercial activity for the project/area, ensuring high operational efficiency and sustainable investment returns for the commercial units in the podium.
Other real estate projects near Long Thanh Airport, such as Spring Ville, Gem Sky World, Century City, STC Long Thanh, D2D Loc An, ID Junction, and Century City, are also experiencing positive liquidity amid news of the airport’s impending operation.
Long Thanh Airport is a national key project expected to become a world-class aviation gateway, enhancing Vietnam’s international transit capacity. This “mega project” will not only serve as a transportation hub but also drive the development of surrounding service, commercial, and residential ecosystems, forming an “airport city” model.
According to the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), the passenger terminal of Long Thanh Airport Phase 1 will have a design capacity of 25 million passengers annually. By the time Phase 1 becomes operational, international passenger traffic is projected to reach 20 million annually.
