Quang An Night Flower Market, located on Au Co Street, is renowned as Hanoi’s largest flower supplier. While it operates throughout the night, the market becomes even more bustling in the lead-up to Vietnamese Women’s Day on October 20th, teeming with buyers and sellers.
As observed in the early hours of October 19th, Quang An Flower Market was packed with buyers and sellers throughout the night.
Typically, this wholesale flower market caters primarily to bulk buyers who then supply the broader market. However, during these days, many retail customers also flock here to purchase fresh flowers at “wholesale prices” as gifts for October 20th.
“Every year around October 20th, the flower market becomes significantly more crowded. Many people not only seek affordable flowers but also wish to immerse themselves in the vibrant atmosphere of the holiday. This year, flower prices are slightly higher than usual, but the increase is negligible,” shared a local vendor.
This vendor explained that the price increase is partly due to high demand, but more critically, the supply has significantly decreased as consecutive natural disasters have impacted many flower-growing regions in Northern Vietnam.
According to surveys, small roses range from 90,000 to 100,000 VND per bunch, large roses from 200,000 to 220,000 VND per bunch, and coin flowers from 70,000 to 100,000 VND per bunch. Despite the increase, buyers consider these prices significantly cheaper than those in the general market.
Fresh flowers at Quang An Market are primarily sourced from renowned growing areas around Hanoi, such as Tay Tuu, Me Linh, and Dong Anh. Additionally, various flowers from Da Lat and Moc Chau, including sunflowers, hydrangeas, and asters, are transported to the capital.
Many people take the opportunity to select their favorite bouquets for the October 20th celebration.
In the early morning hours, Quang An Flower Market remains bustling with buyers and sellers, its lights illuminating a vast area. Flower-laden trucks continuously arrive, and the lively trading atmosphere persists until dawn.
