The all-new Wuling Starlight 560 SUV from the SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW) joint venture has been spotted in China ahead of its official launch, according to Yiche. This strategic model follows the Starlight 730 MPV, offering three powertrain options: gasoline (ICE), plug-in hybrid (PHEV), and all-electric (BEV). Its debut is expected later this year.
Design-wise, the Starlight 560 mirrors the aesthetic of its sibling, the Starlight 730, particularly in the front fascia.
Both the ICE and PHEV variants feature a black rectangular honeycomb grille paired with dual headlights.
The BEV version boasts an aerodynamic sealed front, a black panel connecting the dual headlights, and a compact lower grille.
Dimensions are 4,745 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width, and 1,755 (1,770) mm in height, with a 2,810 mm wheelbase. Buyers can choose between 5-seater and 7-seater configurations at launch.
The ICE variant packs a 1.5T turbocharged engine delivering 130 kW (174 hp), paired with either a 6-speed manual or CVT transmission.
The PHEV uses a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine (78 kW/105 hp) combined with a 20.5 kWh LFP battery, offering a 100 km CLTC electric range. Curb weight ranges from 1,685–1,750 kg.
The BEV variant features a 100 kW (134 hp) electric motor with 54.5 kWh or 56.7 kWh LFP battery options, achieving 450–500 km CLTC range. Curb weight varies between 1,630–1,730 kg.
While interior details remain undisclosed, SGMW positions the Starlight 560’s triple powertrain options to appeal broadly—from conventional drivers to EV adopters.
The Wuling Starlight 560 marks a strategic expansion of SGMW’s EV-hybrid portfolio, targeting China’s fiercely competitive midsize SUV segment dominated by BYD, Changan, and GAC.
