Recently, the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has directed the implementation of the City Council’s resolution on adjusting the investment policy for the project to upgrade and expand Nguyen Duy Trinh Road (from Ring Road 2 to the entrance of Phu Huu Industrial Park). According to the plan, this 1.6 km stretch will be widened from 7 meters to 30 meters, accommodating six traffic lanes.

Previously, in September, the Ho Chi Minh City Council approved the adjustment of the investment policy for the Nguyen Duy Trinh Road upgrade project, increasing the total investment from VND 832 billion to VND 1,859 billion.

Under the new plan, in 2025, the project will complete the adjustment of the investment policy, prepare and approve the feasibility study report. By 2026, compensation, resettlement support, and contractor selection will be carried out. The project is expected to break ground in late 2026, be completed in 2027, and undergo final settlement in 2028.

Nguyen Duy Trinh Road is narrow, with heavy traffic from trucks and containers.

To ensure the timeline is met, the City People’s Committee has tasked the Project Management Board for Traffic Infrastructure Investment (the investor) with urgently collaborating with the Long Truong Ward People’s Committee to review the detailed zoning plans. This ensures the project aligns with the plans approved by the Prime Minister and other relevant planning regulations.

The Board must also coordinate with relevant units to review the scope of related projects in the area (such as the expansion of the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay Expressway and the North-South High-Speed Railway) to avoid overlapping land acquisition boundaries. Additionally, they must promptly complete procedures related to compensation, support, and resettlement in accordance with the planning boundaries and the set schedule.

The Transport Department is tasked with developing a detailed plan (including tasks, implementation schedule, and monthly disbursement plan) to ensure compliance with the approved timeline.

The Chairman of the City People’s Committee has instructed the Department of Construction to guide the project investor in completing the preparation, appraisal, and approval of the adjusted investment project to meet the conditions for reporting to the City Council for additional capital allocation in 2025.

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is tasked with urgently guiding the project investor and the Long Truong Ward People’s Committee in implementing procedures related to land clearance compensation, particularly those involving measurement and inventory.

The Department of Planning and Architecture will proactively guide the project investor and relevant agencies in reviewing the detailed zoning plans to ensure the approved project aligns with the city’s master plan and other related planning schemes.

Nguyen Duy Trinh Road is a vital transportation artery connecting residential areas, businesses, construction material yards, and especially the Phu Huu Port. Thousands of trucks and containers travel on this route daily, yet the infrastructure has not kept pace with the heavy traffic volume.

The upgrade and expansion of the road are expected to alleviate traffic congestion, eliminate accident hotspots, and enhance connectivity in the eastern part of the city.
