On October 15th, Sun Group officially launched Sun PhuQuoc Airways, marking a significant expansion of its tourism, hospitality, and aviation ecosystem, a vision the conglomerate has pursued for years.

According to Sun PhuQuoc Airways CEO Nguyen Manh Quan, Vietnam’s aviation market is experiencing rapid growth, with numerous domestic carriers and over 30 international airlines in operation. The introduction of a new airline, he explains, is not about joining the race for lower prices or higher frequencies, but about offering passengers new choices and added value.

“Sun PhuQuoc Airways isn’t focused on competing through pricing or flight frequency. Instead, we aim to integrate aviation development with destination growth. Just as Bali, Phuket, and Jeju have their own airlines that boost local tourism, Phu Quoc—with its natural potential, strategic location, and modern infrastructure—deserves to become a global destination,” stated Mr. Quan.

The CEO emphasized that the airline’s goal is to make Phu Quoc more accessible to travelers while promoting Vietnam’s image internationally.

In terms of operations, Sun PhuQuoc Airways has adopted a full-service model, offering comprehensive services. Mr. Quan noted that while this model doesn’t categorize services into star ratings like hotels, the airline is committed to meeting international 5-star standards in quality, safety, and customer experience.

Sun PhuQuoc Airways has received 3 out of the 8 aircraft scheduled for delivery in 2025.

Regarding pricing, Mr. Quan explained that ticket prices will be flexibly adjusted based on supply and demand, seasonal variations, and aircraft availability.

“We define ourselves not by price, but by our mission. Our goal is to connect and elevate destinations, making them more accessible to both domestic and international travelers. Sun PhuQuoc Airways isn’t an expensive airline; it’s a valuable one,” he added.

On fleet expansion, the CEO mentioned that amidst supply chain challenges faced by aircraft manufacturers like Boeing and Airbus, the airline will adopt a flexible strategy combining leasing and new purchases to ensure operational timelines.

By the end of 2026, Sun PhuQuoc Airways plans to operate approximately 25 aircraft, completing its domestic network and expanding to Southeast and Northeast Asian markets such as Seoul, Bangkok, Singapore, and Taipei.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Quan shared that Sun PhuQuoc Airways doesn’t aim to be the largest airline but strives to build a distinctive brand closely tied to its destination. The airline hopes that when travelers think of Phu Quoc, they will think of Sun PhuQuoc Airways.
