On the afternoon of October 22, Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People’s Committee, Le Quang Nam, chaired a meeting with the China Railway Fourth Survey and Design Institute Group Co., Ltd. to discuss potential collaboration in urban rail transit projects.

During the meeting, representatives from the Chinese group presented their development history, areas of expertise, and numerous urban rail projects completed both domestically and internationally. They expressed keen interest in partnering with Da Nang to research and invest in the Da Nang – Hoi An urban rail line and related projects in Vietnam.

Da Nang City is exploring the development of an urban rail line connecting the city center to Hoi An.

Mr. Le Quang Nam outlined Da Nang’s future plans for urban rail transit development, emphasizing three core requirements for collaboration: building an integrated transportation system, adopting advanced operational technologies, and ensuring technology transfer.

The Da Nang leadership invited the Chinese group to participate and contribute to the urban rail transit development seminar scheduled for October 24-25. Relevant departments were tasked with coordinating to provide necessary information for further joint research and cooperation assessment.

According to the plan, the Da Nang – Hoi An Light Rail Transit (LRT) line will connect with Da Nang’s existing LRT network along Truong Sa Street, follow Provincial Road 603B, and terminate at the intersection of Provincial Road 603B and Hai Ba Trung Street (near Hoi An’s inter-provincial bus station). This line aims to establish an efficient transport corridor linking two major tourism hubs.

Da Nang targets the project’s implementation between 2025 and 2030.

Previously, in a September meeting with Da Nang leaders, Deo Ca Group proposed that the city government allow them to prepare a project proposal for the Da Nang – Hoi An urban rail line under a public-private partnership model.

At the same meeting, Mr. Le Quang Nam stated that the project proposal would be reviewed to select a suitable investor. The entire tendering process will be conducted transparently and in compliance with regulations.
