The Vietnam Aviation Authority has issued a directive to relevant units, urging proactive measures to combat and respond to Typhoon No. 12 (internationally known as Fengshen). The aim is to ensure the safety of flight operations, personnel, and assets at various airports.

According to the directive, airports expected to be directly affected by Typhoon No. 12 include: Phu Bai International Airport, Da Nang International Airport, and Chu Lai Airport. Pleiku Airport and Phu Cat Airport are advised to stay updated and prepare for any unexpected changes in the typhoon’s path.

Vietnam Airlines has announced adjustments to its flight schedules in Hue and Da Nang on October 22 and 23 due to the impact of Typhoon No. 12.

Specifically, on October 22, flights VN1545 and VN1544 between Hanoi and Hue will depart two hours earlier than originally scheduled. Flights VN1378 and VN1379 between Ho Chi Minh City and Hue on October 22 will be rescheduled to the morning of October 23.

Also on October 22, flights VN179, VN180, VN187, and VN188 between Hanoi and Da Nang; VN136, VN137, and VN140 between Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang will depart 1.5 to 2 hours earlier than scheduled.

Flights VN1549, VN1548 between Hanoi and Hue; VN7197 between Hanoi and Da Nang; VN7122, VN142, and VN143 between Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang; VN1940, VN1941 between Da Nang and Cam Ranh on October 22 will be canceled. Additionally, VN156 between Da Nang and Hanoi; VN101 between Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City on October 23 will also be canceled.

Furthermore, numerous domestic and international flights may experience cascading delays due to the typhoon’s progression. Affected passengers will receive support from the airline as per regulations.

Passengers are advised to fasten their seatbelts throughout the flight, especially during turbulent weather conditions, to minimize risks associated with air turbulence.

Hurricane Matmo, designated as Typhoon No. 11, is forecasted to directly impact Cat Bi International Airport in Hai Phong and Van Don Airport in Quang Ninh. Consequently, multiple other airports are also implementing emergency response plans to ensure operational safety.
