Egg Prices Surge in Southeast Vietnam
On October 24th, reports from poultry farms in Southeast Vietnam indicate a significant rise in egg prices over the past few weeks. Prices have climbed by 500-700 VND, reaching 2,500-2,900 VND per egg. With production costs ranging from 1,600-1,800 VND per egg, farmers are currently profiting over 1,000 VND per egg.
At retail markets, egg prices fluctuate between 3,000-3,500 VND per egg, with some varieties reaching up to 3,800 VND per egg.
Soaring Egg Prices
According to traders, areas bordering Vietnam and Cambodia have seen an increase in egg collection hubs, which then export eggs to Cambodia. It is estimated that approximately one million eggs are gathered daily, primarily in Tay Ninh, An Giang, and Dong Thap.
This export activity has led to localized shortages, driving up domestic egg prices.
Unlikely to Reach 4,000 VND
However, poultry enterprises suggest that domestic egg prices are unlikely to hit the 4,000 VND mark. At this price point, domestic egg consumption would likely decline, as consumers, especially industrial kitchens, schools, and factories, may opt for alternative food sources.
Typically, industrial laying hens have a 12-month laying cycle. During this period, eggs are larger and fetch higher prices. After this cycle, egg size decreases, and prices drop, prompting farms to cull the hens.
Due to the recent price surge, many farms are retaining hens beyond their usual culling cycle, resulting in a market flooded with smaller eggs.
Boost Family Deduction Threshold: Millions of Households Gain Extra Spending Power
Elevating the personal tax deduction to $15.5 million VND/month for taxpayers and $6.2 million VND/month for dependents fulfills a long-standing aspiration of the public. Beginning in 2026, approximately 2.18 million individuals will be exempt from taxation, significantly boosting domestic consumption.

The Billionaire’s Flock: Unlocking the Golden Egg with a Million Daily Delights and a 135% Profit Boom
In the first seven months of 2025, Hoa Phat recorded a staggering 135% growth in profits in its poultry farming division compared to the same period last year. This impressive achievement can be attributed to the significant rise in egg prices, driven by reduced supply. The company maintained a steady production volume of nearly 1,000,000 eggs per day, matching its highest capacity in 2024.
