Thank You, Chinese Phones?
According to Android Central, there are two features users consistently seek in a smartphone above all else: an exceptional camera and long-lasting battery life.
Fortunately, most phones in 2025 excel in both areas. Devices like the Vivo X200 Pro, Find X8 Pro, Xiaomi 15 Ultra, and Vivo X200 Ultra boast remarkable cameras, surpassing those of Google and Samsung, while also offering superior battery performance.
What’s particularly exciting is the widespread adoption of silicon battery technology this year. This innovation allows Chinese phone manufacturers to incorporate larger batteries without significantly increasing the device’s size or weight.
As a result, most 2025 smartphones feature a 6,000mAh battery, easily lasting a day and a half on a single charge.
The Find X9 Pro boasts a 7,500mAh battery.
In fact, battery anxiety is a thing of the past. Except for the iPhone Air, every smartphone now comfortably lasts a full day on a single charge.
Notably, Chinese phone brands are now equipping their devices with even larger batteries, introducing models with 7,000mAh or higher capacities.
Ultimately, it’s the users who benefit. Finally, smartphones can reliably operate for two days between charges. The Vivo X300 Pro features a 6,510mAh battery, while the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max and Find X9 Pro go even further with a 7,500mAh battery.
In reality, most Chinese brands are following this trend with their latest models. Initially, there were concerns that the slim phone trend would dominate, but that hasn’t materialized.
This progress is thanks to the addition of a silicon-carbon composite in the anode. While 2025 phones contained only 10% silicon in their batteries, brands are increasingly using higher silicon ratios, enabling larger batteries without adding bulk or weight compared to previous generations.
One drawback is that not all international versions share the same battery capacity. While Vivo offers the X300 Pro with a 6,510mAh battery in Asian markets, the European version features a significantly smaller 5,440mAh battery.
Fortunately, the Find X9 Pro, Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, and iQOO 15 are expected to maintain consistent battery capacities across all regions, giving these devices a distinct edge over competitors.
Charging Benefits Too
Another factor to consider is charging technology. While Chinese brands previously experimented with 120W and 150W charging, the industry has stabilized at 90W and 100W, again thanks to silicon battery technology.
From discussions with manufacturers, it’s clear that 90W is now the “sweet spot.” This speed is fast enough to fully charge a 7,000mAh battery in just one hour without causing unnecessary battery degradation.
Even more noteworthy, most Chinese smartphones now support USB PD (Power Delivery) charging at a minimum of 50W, making it easier to charge these battery-packed devices.
As with last year, these battery advancements remain exclusive to Chinese manufacturers, while Apple, Google, and Samsung largely ignore silicon battery technology.
Although Google has slightly increased the battery size in the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, it’s evident these brands have no immediate plans to adopt silicon batteries, leaving the advantage entirely to their Chinese competitors.
While users eagerly await a Samsung phone that can last two days between charges, it’s clear that’s still years away.
Fortunately, that’s not the case with the latest Chinese smartphones. With more battery-focused devices launching, you can now own a phone that lasts up to two days. If you’re waiting for an iPhone or Samsung to catch up, you’ll be waiting a while.
