Selected by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and Vietnam Electricity (EVN), this project is part of EVN’s urgent priority list, slated for completion and energization in 2025. EVNNPT and its Trade Union have launched a campaign to expedite its progress.

EVNNPT serves as the investor, with the Central Power Projects Management Board overseeing project management. Power Transmission Company 1 will operate the facility upon completion.

Located in Trai Hamlet, Vung Ang Ward, Ha Tinh Province, the 220 kV Vung Ang Substation is designed to accommodate two 250 MVA transformers by 2030, with one 125 MVA transformer installed in the initial phase. The station operates at three voltage levels: 220 kV, 110 kV, and 22 kV.

The connecting lines span 2×13.4 km, traversing Vung Ang Ward and Song Tri Ward in Ha Tinh Province.

Construction faced significant challenges, particularly in land clearance and compensation, especially in Tay Yen Residential Area, Vung Ang Ward. Under EVNNPT’s decisive leadership, with support from Ha Tinh Provincial People’s Committee, Ha Tinh Police, and local authorities, the substation was energized on September 21, 2025.

To maximize project efficiency, the 220 kV connecting lines must be completed promptly. However, resistance from some households hindered wire-pulling efforts in the 06-08 span (600 meters long). With intervention from Ha Tinh Provincial Party Committee, People’s Committee, and local police, construction was secured, ensuring timely project completion.

Ha Tinh Province’s proactive measures underscore its commitment to advancing key regional projects.

Upon completion, the 220 kV Vung Ang Substation and its connections will supply power to critical loads in Ha Tinh, particularly the Vung Ang Economic Zone, home to major industrial complexes and factories.

The project will also enhance capacity for the Vung Ang Thermal Power Plant, reduce energy losses, ensure grid safety, and improve electricity reliability, supporting socioeconomic and political development in Ha Tinh.

Completing the project now symbolizes EVNNPT and CPMB employees’ dedication to the 11th National Emulation Congress of Vietnamese Workers and Employees in 2025, hosted by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor in Hanoi.
