Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh Arrives in Malaysia for ASEAN Summit

In the early hours of October 26th (local time), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Vietnamese delegation arrived in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, marking the beginning of their official visit to attend the 47th ASEAN Summit and related meetings. This significant event, held from October 25th to 28th, 2025, is hosted by Malaysia's Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who also serves as the Chairman of ASEAN for the year.

Upon arrival at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Vietnamese delegation were warmly welcomed by Malaysian Minister of Education Fadhlina Sidek, Malaysian Ambassador to Vietnam Dato’ Tan Yang Thai, the Director-General of the Protocol and Consular Division of the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and representatives from the Malaysian Prime Minister’s Office. Representing Vietnam were Ambassador Dinh Ngoc Linh, embassy staff, and members of the Vietnamese community in Malaysia.

During the three-day visit, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh is scheduled to attend and deliver speeches at various sessions within the 47th ASEAN Summit, including the ASEAN Awards Ceremony, the signing ceremony for Timor-Leste’s accession to ASEAN, and high-level meetings between ASEAN and its partners such as the United States, China, India, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, South Korea, and the United Nations. The Prime Minister will also co-chair the 13th Mekong-Japan Summit, attend the 3rd Asia Zero Emission Community Leaders Meeting, the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit, the 28th ASEAN+3 Summit, the 19th East Asia Summit, and the 5th Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Summit.

In addition to official engagements, the Vietnamese Prime Minister is expected to hold several bilateral meetings with leaders of other countries and international organizations on the sidelines of the summit to discuss and promote cooperation across various sectors.

At the 47th ASEAN Summit, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and other ASEAN leaders will review the bloc’s achievements in 2025 under the theme “Inclusive and Sustainable.” Discussions will focus on the future development of the ASEAN Community, based on the implementation of the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 and strategic plans for political-security, economic, socio-cultural, and regional connectivity. The summit will also aim to enhance the effectiveness of ASEAN-led cooperation mechanisms, strengthen ASEAN’s centrality in regional architecture, and address shared international concerns.

During meetings with ASEAN’s partners, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and other leaders will review existing cooperation and set directions to enhance connectivity in trade, investment, market diversification, supply chain resilience, science and technology development, innovation, climate change response, disease control, and disaster management.

Through these activities, Vietnam continues to demonstrate its proactive, positive, and responsible contributions to ASEAN’s success, fostering unity and consensus within the bloc. Vietnam aims to maintain regional peace and stability, expand foreign relations, diversify markets, and strengthen regional connectivity. Vietnam is also ready to support and effectively participate in initiatives that align with ASEAN’s common interests and the goals of peace, security, and sustainable development in the region and beyond.
