While the broader market experienced significant volatility, Vietjet Aviation Joint Stock Company’s (VJC) shares demonstrated remarkable resilience. During the afternoon session on October 28th, VJC shares surged dramatically, reaching their upper limit before closing the session with a 6.96% increase, settling at 187,500 VND per share, marking an all-time high.
Trading activity on VJC shares was robust, with over 3.6 million units matched. The stock’s upward trajectory has propelled the company’s market capitalization to unprecedented levels, surpassing 110.9 trillion VND, nearly doubling since the beginning of the year.
Alongside the stock’s appreciation, the wealth of billionaire Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao has also experienced rapid growth. On Forbes’ global billionaire list, Ms. Thao—Vietnam’s sole self-made female billionaire—now boasts a net worth of USD 4.4 billion, an increase of USD 95 million (+2.22%), ranking her 935th worldwide.
Vietjet recently announced plans to issue 118.3 million dividend shares at a 20% ratio, meaning shareholders holding 100 shares will receive an additional 20 shares. The issuance is scheduled for Q4 2025 to Q1 2026, pending approval from the State Securities Commission.
Following the issuance, Vietjet’s chartered capital will increase from 5.916 trillion VND to 7.1 trillion VND. The additional 1.183 trillion VND will be allocated to support business expansion, enhance financial capacity, strengthen market presence, improve bidding capabilities, and ensure compliance with liquidity regulations.
The strong performance of VJC shares reflects Vietjet’s robust growth since the beginning of the year, coupled with positive prospects from upcoming orders for new, modern aircraft. Vietjet recently added a wide-body A330 aircraft, bringing its total fleet (including Vietjet Thailand and Vietjet Qazaqstan) to 130 aircraft. The airline also commenced construction of an Aircraft Maintenance Technical Center at Long Thanh International Airport, one of 80 landmark projects celebrating the A80 anniversary.
