The People’s Council of Phu Quoc Special Zone, An Giang Province, has recently issued a resolution renaming 46 wards and retaining the original names of 5 wards within the area. This resolution will take effect from October 23, 2025.
According to the resolution, the wards previously numbered from 1 to 12 in the former Duong Dong Ward will be renamed as “Ward 1 Duong Dong,” “Ward 2 Duong Dong,” and so on, up to “Ward 12 Duong Dong.” Similarly, the 8 wards in the former An Thoi Ward will be renamed from “Ward 1 An Thoi” to “Ward 8 An Thoi.”

Likewise, wards in the former communes of Phu Quoc will be renamed by appending the old commune names. For example, Le Bat Ward (formerly in Cua Can Commune) will become “Le Bat Cua Can Ward,” and Rach Ham Ward (formerly in Ham Ninh Commune) will become “Rach Ham Ham Ninh Ward.”
Five wards will retain their original names: Hon Thom Ward, Hon Roi Ward, Ganh Dau Ward, Duong To Ward, and Bai Thom Ward.
Prior to the reorganization and implementation of the two-tier local government model on July 1, Phu Quoc was a first-class city under the province, comprising 2 wards and 6 communes: Duong Dong Ward, An Thoi Ward, Duong To Commune, Ham Ninh Commune, Cua Duong Commune, Cua Can Commune, Ganh Dau Commune, and Bai Thom Commune.
