On October 27, Colonel Huỳnh Bảo Nguyên, Deputy Director of Gia Lai Provincial Police, announced preliminary test results revealing that the T.K branded coffee powder produced by Nguyen Phat Gia Lai Limited Liability Company contained only 0.3% caffeine.

Police forces inspect the coffee production facility of Nguyen Phat Gia Lai Limited Liability Company located on Mac Dang Dung Street, Hoi Phu Ward.
According to the National Standard TCVN 5251:2015, coffee powder must contain a minimum of 1% caffeine. Therefore, the product from Nguyen Phat Gia Lai Limited Liability Company meets only 30% of the required standard, indicating potential counterfeit coffee production.
Expanding the investigation, authorities arrested an additional suspect, Nguyen Van Hanh (38 years old, residing in An Binh Ward, Gia Lai Province), who was directly involved in the company’s production activities.
As previously reported by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, on October 24, the Police Department for Investigating Corruption, Economic, Smuggling, and Environmental Crimes of Gia Lai Province, in collaboration with relevant units, inspected two suspected counterfeit coffee production facilities of Nguyen Phat Gia Lai Limited Liability Company.
These facilities are located on Truong Sa Street (Gao Commune) and Mac Dang Dung Street (Hoi Phu Ward), managed by Director Vo Minh Tung (47 years old, residing in Hoi Phu Ward).
During the inspection, authorities seized a significant amount of evidence and raw materials suspected of being used for counterfeit coffee production, including: over 300 kg of T.K branded finished coffee products; nearly 900 kg of green coffee beans and 4,000 kg of roasted, ground, and mixed coffee powder awaiting packaging; more than 4.5 tons of raw and auxiliary materials such as flavorings, shea butter, additives, soybeans, and coloring agents; along with production equipment like grinders, mixers, roasters, packaging machines, and date printers.
Gia Lai Provincial Police have detained Vo Minh Tung for investigation on charges of producing counterfeit coffee. All evidence, machinery, and raw materials related to the illegal production activities have been sealed.
Investigators are continuing to determine the scale of the operation, distribution networks, and other individuals involved in the case.
