The former Ba Ria – Vung Tau Provincial Administrative and Political Center, located in Ba Ria Ward (Ho Chi Minh City), spans approximately 20 hectares. Construction began in 2009 and was completed in 2012, with a total investment of over 1 trillion VND from the local budget.
Recently, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Finance updated and adjusted the plan for arranging and allocating office space for agencies and units after reorganization. Notably, they proposed transferring the former Ba Ria – Vung Tau Provincial Administrative and Political Center to the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City, for use as an educational and healthcare facility.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Finance, after many departments and agencies relocated to the city center, the former administrative center now utilizes only a small portion of its area for transitional work.
The former Ba Ria – Vung Tau Provincial Administrative Center comprises six clusters of buildings, ranging from 5 to 6 stories, designed with a unified architectural style. The complex was built to serve the administrative, state, and political activities of the province, including a Conference Center, Party and Mass Organizations Headquarters, Government Headquarters, and the Provincial People’s Committee and Party Committee Offices.
In addition to the main structures, the center features comprehensive auxiliary facilities and technical infrastructure, such as a balancing lake, water supply and drainage systems, electrical networks, green spaces, and a surveillance camera system, ensuring full support for the entire complex’s operations.
After more than 13 years of operation, the former Ba Ria – Vung Tau Provincial Administrative Center remains well-maintained and modern. Its infrastructure and landscaping undergo regular maintenance, ensuring the complex remains stable, clean, and aesthetically pleasing.
The former Ba Ria – Vung Tau Provincial Conference Center, located within the administrative complex, has hosted numerous important meetings and events for the province.
A standout feature of the complex is its 1-hectare lake, which not only enhances the landscape but also helps regulate the air quality for the entire area.
Observations indicate that the buildings housing the Party and mass organizations within the former administrative center are now largely inactive, with empty parking areas. Since July 1st, following the merger of administrative units, most departments and Party officials have relocated to the Ho Chi Minh City center. A few staff members remain in the administrative block to handle on-site tasks, but the number of visitors has significantly decreased compared to pre-merger levels.
The former Ba Ria – Vung Tau Provincial Administrative and Political Center is surrounded by new, well-maintained roads, creating a spacious and modern environment.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Finance, there are currently over 200 unused land and property facilities in the area. The department has received numerous requests for office space from central and local agencies, as well as public service units, and is coordinating with relevant parties to submit proposals to the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee for resolution.
