The 220kV double-circuit transmission line project connecting Thai Binh, Tien Hai, and Truc Ninh plays a pivotal role in transmitting power from the Thai Binh Power Center to the National Grid. This critical infrastructure supports the growing energy demands of Hung Yen, Ninh Binh, and surrounding areas. Ensuring uninterrupted operation and preventing any incidents is paramount.
After nearly seven years of operation since 2017, routine inspections revealed signs of aging in the composite insulators along the line, posing potential safety risks. A failure in these insulators, especially over roads or residential areas, could lead to severe consequences, endangering lives, property, and regional power stability.

In response, the Ninh Binh Transmission Team proactively proposed and implemented a solution to replace all existing composite insulators with traditional glass insulators, ensuring long-term safety for the project and intersecting structures below.
The approved plan involved replacing 1,079 insulator strings across 63 locations, including 57 DLD.2.70 cross-arm strings. To minimize downtime, Power Transmission Company 1 mobilized over 200 personnel from Hanoi, Northwest 2, Northeast 2, Thanh Hoa, and Hoa Binh Transmission Teams, alongside 50 local Ninh Binh workers.
The six-day continuous operation included phased outages (morning outages, afternoon restorations). Over 140 tons of materials and equipment were transported, with 40 km of manual handling across plains and coastal waterways.
Harsh conditions, including Typhoon No. 12, northeast monsoons, and fluctuating weather, compounded by river crossings and live low-voltage line clearances, necessitated strict adherence to technical and safety protocols.

Grounding, pulley inspections, DCTC testing, and occupational health and safety measures were rigorously implemented in accordance with EVNNPT’s standards.
By 6:00 PM on October 26, 2025, the project was completed on schedule, ensuring absolute safety for personnel and equipment, and restoring stable line operation.

The project’s success underscores the technical expertise and seamless collaboration among Power Transmission Company 1 (PTC1) units. It exemplifies the core values of “Compliance, Dedication, Professionalism, and Efficiency” that define the culture of PTC1’s workforce.
