With its extensive network of pharmacies and vaccination centers, Long Châu plays a pivotal role in raising stroke awareness, providing timely emergency care, and connecting patients to healthcare facilities within the critical golden hour, ultimately safeguarding lives.
The ceremony was organized by the Vietnam Young Physicians Association in collaboration with Long Châu’s pharmacy and vaccination center system, Bayer Vietnam, and other healthcare partners.
This event marks a significant public-private partnership in healthcare, aimed at preventing and reducing stroke-related mortality and disability. It aligns with Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW of the Politburo and Resolution No. 282/NQ-CP of the Government, reinforcing efforts to protect and improve public health.
Public-Private Healthcare Collaboration for a Healthier Vietnam
Stroke is a critical public health threat and a leading cause of death and disability in Vietnam. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2021, Vietnam recorded over 167 stroke-related deaths per 100,000 people. Alarmingly, strokes are increasingly affecting younger individuals, imposing a significant socioeconomic burden.
Recognizing this urgency, the “National Strategic Collaboration on Stroke Prevention and Management” was launched to develop a comprehensive, innovative stroke prevention and management plan. Under the Ministry of Health’s guidance, this long-term initiative spans three phases, aligned with the National Strategy for Non-Communicable Disease Prevention and Control, and will continue until 2035. Key partners include the Department of Preventive Medicine, Department of Medical Service Administration, Vietnam Young Physicians Association, Hanoi Stroke Association, Long Châu, Bayer Vietnam, and Santé et Vie Magazine as the media partner.
Speaking at the event, Prof. Tran Van Thuan, Deputy Minister of Health, emphasized that Resolutions 57-NQ/TW and 72-NQ/TW of the Politburo aim to shift healthcare focus from treatment to prevention, from reactive to proactive measures, and from isolated efforts to cross-sector collaboration. The National Stroke Prevention and Management Program is a concrete step toward achieving a smart, humane, and citizen-centric healthcare system.
The Deputy Minister highlighted, “Initial efforts include launching the ‘Stroke – Early Recognition, Swift Action’ information portal on Santé et Vie Magazine, developing a multi-platform communication system, and leveraging Long Châu’s 2,400+ pharmacies and 200 vaccination centers to disseminate stroke prevention and awareness information. Additionally, AI integration will enhance early stroke risk consultation and diagnosis, marking the first time a community pharmacy network is utilized as a proactive and accessible health communication channel.”

The collaboration focuses on community education, healthcare workforce training, stroke risk screening, and facilitating access to advanced stroke prevention and management solutions.
A national campaign, “Stroke – Prevention, Early Recognition, Swift Action,” will be launched on Santé et Vie Magazine’s platform, supported by multi-channel communication. The initiative seeks broad participation from organizations, government agencies, and the public to combat stroke.
Ms. Nguyen Bach Diep, Chairwoman of FPT Retail and CEO of Long Châu, speaking at the event.
Ms. Nguyen Bach Diep, Chairwoman of FPT Retail and CEO of Long Châu, stated, “Long Châu firmly believes that community health is the cornerstone of a prosperous nation. With non-communicable diseases, particularly cardiovascular conditions and stroke, becoming societal burdens, health protection must begin with awareness, early screening, risk management, and evidence-based treatment. In alignment with Resolution 72-NQ/TW and Resolution 282/NQ-CP, Long Châu is committed to collaborating with healthcare authorities, hospitals, experts, and strategic partners to implement preventive programs, fostering a healthier Vietnam.”
The event featured impactful activities, including a multi-stakeholder partnership launch, free stroke risk screenings for 1,000 individuals, and a “Healthy Vietnam” cycling event.
Free stroke risk screenings commenced immediately after the launch ceremony.
